Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I don't really think we're getting Young Avengers at all, if I'm honest. At least not with that branding.
There's a lot of ways the next big super-team can go in terms of roster, but I think when it comes to the younger heroes, they'll either be the Champions or folded into the New/Mighty/whatever the next general incarnation of the Avengers is called.
Fact of the matter is, "Young Avengers" isn't really a name that has any staying power in a live-action format. Kate's a long-standing member of the team in the comics, and she's explicitly already 22 here, by the time most of these heroes are ready to team up the idea of them being teenaged/young adult superheroes will be good for maybe one or two installments, but that's about it.
So I think they're either going to be folded into the New Avengers, be the New Avengers (although that one seems a bit less likely assuming Shang-Chi/Captain Marvel/Doctor Strange/Captain America/She-Hulk/various other older heroes get involved), or just be their own team divorced from the Avengers for whatever reason.
I would find it funny if they do name it Champions because most of the characters introduced or will be introduced are largely YA characters.
We got Kate, Cassie/Stature, Eli/Patriot, Billy and Tommy, and America Chavez. Thats half of the YA team leaving only Nathaniel Richards (both Iron Lad and Vision II), Teddy, Noh-Varr, Prodigy, and Kid Loki.
Meanwhile the only confirmed Champions are Kamala and Riri. Which does make sense as the Young Avengers series is largely more successful than Champions has been.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I have feeling they'll be called the "Champions" officially, just to differentiate them from the Avengers, but there will probably be a scene where someone derisively makes a comment like "So, what? Are you guys supposed to be the Young Avengers or something?"

It's time for them to do what has to be done and become Superman IV: The Quest for Peace!
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonThey clearly need to call themselves....
The Young New Champion Generation Warriors!!!!
Everyone is covered.
I think I got every teen / young adult team in this one.
One Strip! One Strip! The first group of Young Avengers were interesting in that they were Legacy characters…but they were not legacy characters of the heroes they based their identities on at first.
- Asgardian modeled himself after Thor but he was really Scarlet Witch’s successor. He used magic to simulate Thor’s power.
- Patriot wore a costume similar to Bucky and Captain America, but he was really honoring his grandfather Isaiah Bradley. He claimed he inherited the Super-Soldier enhancement from a blood transfusion from his grandfather.
- Hulkling as mentioned modeled himself after the Hulk but he was really a Skrull-Kree hybrid who was the son of Captain Marvel and the Skrull princess Anelle. He used the combo of shapeshifting from his Skrull heritage and the Super-Strength he got from his father to mimic the Hulk.
- Iron Lad modeled himself after Iron Man but was really a teenage version…of Avengers foe Kang the Conqueror. The team was founded in the first place due to Iron Lad hoping to Screw Destiny and not be Kang. Sadly it failed.

The Young New Champion Generation Runaway Warriors!!!!
Fixed.
Yeah. I'm not sure what's going on with Iron Lad lately, but I'm pretty sure he's much closer to be Kang than he was before.
He didn’t even bother to show up to the big Kang reunion in the recent Fantastic Four annual
Take that how you will
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIron Lad was on the 2018 Exiles team. Unfortunately there he still couldn’t escape his inevitable Kang fate.
It's a rule that if you're in the 616 and it's your destiny that eventually you'll become a big bad supervillain, you'll never escape that. Previous futures will exert a pressure on you.
Victor Mancha was happily willing to die to prevent his destiny of becoming Ultron Victoreous, and that didn't even stick.
Sunspot never became his predestined villain
I mean, in Bad Futures but does that really count?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI always assumed they'd just name a Young Avengers film "The Initiative" or "Avengers: The Academy" or "Champions" or something, but still have it be clearly a Young Avengers team.
That said, with the sheer hype train that Marvel has going, I doubt that if they named a movie "The Young Avengers" it would impact the movie's staying power in any way.

I still want to know how Hank feels about Scott and his daughter participating in Endgame's final battle together.
My prediction is that he'll either be pissed and say something among the lines of "My suits were not designed to fight aliens, Scott!" or he'll have a Not So Above It All reaction and grouse to his wife that he missed the opportunity of a lifetime.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I've finished rewatching all the Netflix shows; watched Patsy go to prison yesterday to finish it up.
I know we'll probably never see these shows again as-is; at best we'll get the actors reprising their roles in a new canon. But man, it stings. They were my favorite (ostensible) part of the MCU and some of my favorite media, period.
I thought about doing a write-up on them all but I'm not sure how many people here, if any, would even care to read that.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
I'm hoping to check out the first two seasons of Daredevil. If they hook me in, I might check out the other Netflix shows.
I also might take a look at Agent Carter, just because I'm curious about what missions Peggy went on in the late 40s and early 50s. I refuse to touch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D though. Nothing against it, I just don't think it's gonna be worth it.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."

That said, given how dangerous the Chitauri and Thanos's other forces are, I feel that there would be prioritization on superpowered individuals rather than Badass Normals.
