Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah I knew about that. I never watched Last Stand (I heard it was terrible), but watching clips I can see why Grammer's Beast is so beloved. It's always a shame when you're following an actor/musician/and anyone else and they end up sucking.
Edit: I too learned after #metoo not to get to emotionally attached to actors, I think I've gotten better about it.

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midThat's...a distressing thing I learned tonight.
Uh. Anyway. I just hope in general from a distance that for the sake of the fans they do more justice to the X-peeps outside of the core few from the Fo X-Men. And, y'know, cast them well.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)Grammar was well known throughout his career as one of the most vocally Republican actors in Hollywood (“that’s why Kelsey Grammar and I are always up for the same part!
”), so it’s disappointing but not surprising to hear he went full Trump red.

Well, I would argue that that sort of characterization is hard to make work for a younger character like Beast is in the prequel films, at least on the big screen.
Mind you, I haven't really read the earlier X-Men comics, so I couldn't tell you what Beast was like in the early days (I seem to recall reading that he was more like the Thing, in a way?).
Oh God! Natural light!![]()
Only in the first issue when they were still sorting out personalities. Beast was overly verbose from Issue 2 or 3 onwards.
A lot of early x-men was weird like that. Magneto's powers were much less defined, mutants didn't become hated and feared yet, Scott's optic blasts were solar powered, stuff like that.
Nicholas Hoult always does well in roles that are kinda freaky in terms of personality (The Great (!), Mad Max: Fury Road, Warm Bodies) and they never went that hard with Young Beast.

90s Animated Beast is still the greatest version. I will absolutely die on that hill. Well read, intellectual scientist who works for the best for humans AND mutants, but can absolutely throw down like, well, a beast.
And doesn't become a villain. So that's cool.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Yeah.
Though he did have that one episode where he absolutely lost it and opened up an entire can on the Friends of Humanity for kidnapping a human girl he had a thing for.
Meanwhile, Logan actually thought things through and came up with a rather clever plan that revealed Graydon Creed as the son of Sabertooth.
There was even a Lampshade Hanging by Jubilee:
"Beast charging in head on, and Logan is coming up with a plan. What is going on?"
That last part is paraphrased.
I miss the Beast who's personality was completely atypical from his appearance, but could still remind you that he's called Beast for a reason.
Now....he's just a prick.
One Strip! One Strip! How trustworthy is a youtuder named Grace Randolph when it comes to the MCU? I have heard of her but never saw any of her videos. She or at least people who fallow her has been popping up on my twitter feed with MCU stuff and I don't know how trustworthy any of it is.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadJudging by her wikipedia page
, not very. Now just judging by who she follows on twitter she doesn't seem to be a right-wing asshole, but non-right-wing people can still be clickbait assholes.

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midThere has been reasonable evidence lately at least among the rumor mill that Grace has gotten new contacts that have more legit information, if that means anything. Of course taken with a heap of salt given everything.
That all said, I honestly wouldn't even trust her with the 100% God-honest truth. And that's because she's ultimately an "outrage merchant" (to quote Dan Olson) who can't help but constantly editorialize, sensationalize, and overall stoke meaningless culture-war controversy. Even if she had a straight-up content leak she'd still warp it to fit whatever narratives she's pushing and just trying to distill even that is not worth an ounce of the hassle. There's a reason why even other leakers dance around trying to even acknowledge any credit to her, and it's because fuck that noise.

The moral here is to not get too emotionally invested in things and people beyond your control. I learned that a while ago due to being a Ren and Stimpy fan.
Disgusted, but not surprised
