Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The Ant Man films would have contained a marked increase in sex crime
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI remember that Evangeline Lilly read the Eric O'Grady comics for research when she was first cast... and thought they were total garbage
.
In Evangeline's defense O'grady was, indeed, a terrible Ant-Man and a run so weak it died before it could get remotely close to what it wanted to do (the pitch was O'grady would start as a complete asshole and progress to a hero, but he was such a intolerable jackass the readership just died).

"All you Fascists bound to lose."So this was added to Marvel Cinematic Universe:
It's in the Related Franchises folder and I don't know. This was just a shout unlike say what happened in No Way Home. Should this really be there?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadDefinitely should not be there. Hopefully we'll get some Shoutouts or even cross universe Continuity Nods in Multiverse of Madness, but even then it should be listed under related continuities. Until then no... Although I could maybe make a case for Deadpool and Korg, but that was a joke video...
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midYeah, it was just a casting gag and wasn't intended to imply any real connection to the X-Men universe.
Though arguably it was intended to imply a false connection, since it gave "Pietro" a tiny amount of credibility so the audience wouldn't immediately see him as an obvious fraud.
Man, I miss Kelsey Grammer as Beast from the Fox-Men. Nicholas Hoult was alright, but Grammer totally owned the character.
If they bring back any of the old actors, I'd totally love to see him come back for the reboot.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I did like Grammer's performance more than Hoult's. I always found Hoult (granted more the way he was directed than himself) a symptom of a thing I always hate when intellectual characters often get turned either into either a Insufferable Genius rockstar type or a socially awkward cutesy nerd. It's always one of those two (Hoult's Beast being the latter). The archetype Beast fulfills is usually Gentleman and a Scholar The Professor type, a cultured (and often verbose) academic type who is neither a bully flexing his intellect nor a socially awkward dweeb but simply a very intelligent guy who is comfortable in his intelligence and is rather affable and almost fatherly.
Grammer was close to that "gentleman academic" vibe, though I don't really like the make-up used for him in the film as it felt claustrophobic. My favorite Beast designs are the more ape-like ones where his legs are bent and his arms long so he walks hunched like a gorilla trying to walk without using his arms, giving a nice differentiated body language to the character (and the sort of unnatural posture giving a immediate sense this is a animalistic character trying to resist/grapple with that side of himself). Both the 90's series and particularly X-Men Evolution
◊ had cool examples of that.
With all that said, Kelsey Grammer is a Trump supporter and climate change denialist so I'd rather they got literally anybody else to play one of my favorite X-Men rather than him. Benicio del Toro would fit nicely if he hadn't already played The Collector. Maybe Javier Bardem still on the hispanic list or Joel Edgerton.
PS: In recent days (c. House of X and affiliates) Beast has been getting more ruthless and machiavellian as a character (as all smart people in comics eventually do), but even then he's played as a subdued mastermind who keeps his cards close to the chest.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."It's been heavily rumored Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Professor Xavier in Multiverse of Madness in some capacity, so I can see why they'd add that entry, but it's still just a rumor.
In general, both the MCU and DCEU entries on this site have a problem with Tropers adding unconfirmed rumors as though they're facts.
Technically speaking that'd be more valid a description for the women who dated him.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Dammit! He's the perfect Beast! There's literally no one better! He's to Beast what Steward is the Xavier!
Dammit! Dammit! Dammit! Why does this keep happening?
One Strip! One Strip!

I'm good for the first two villains to be Uncle Ben's killer then Chameleon.
The legend has returned.
