Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

At this rate, I wonder if we should just pluck a T'Challa variant from another universe and transplant him into the MCU.
Or better yet, just have T'Challa go through some epic plastic surgery makeover thing after an accident that causes him to look like a different actor.
I'm also against a redemption arc for Killmonger, but I wouldn't mind him being resurrected as a villain again. He was entertaining in What If.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Let the dead rest, I say. I wouldn't mind Killmonger cameoing if they do the "ghosts of Black Panthers past" bit again (but T'Challa's absence would be painfully noticeable) but don't resurrect him, as a villain or as a hero.
Winston Duke as the new Black Panther would be interesting. He's a bit burlier than I'd expect from a superhero role that's more about being lithe and pouncing on people, but his characterization and situation in the Wakanda hierarchy is an interesting (mis)match.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I just now thought that out of the Wasps, I prefer Janet over Hope.
Cause like here Janet and Hank have a pretty good dynamic, being a quirky scientist couple with Janet being the bubbly outgoing one while Hank is more insular and socially awkward one.
By contrast Scott and Hope is more the general man and woman bickering with each other.

Honestly, I really liked Hank and Jan's relationship in Earth's Mightiest Heroes because of that. Janet was someone who wasn't really that well-versed in Hank's studies, but supported him nonetheless. I liked how it also contrasted their approaches to being superheroes, where Jan was someone who loved fighting villains, where Hank was much more reluctant and cared more about rehabilitating former criminals than actually fighting them.
x2: While playing Avengers Academy, it was a pleasant surprise to have that Janet's fashion sense and costume designing be a recurring trait for her (alongside the feistiness of her EHM counterpart). She has the most alternative costumes
in the game as a result, and runs the in-universe costume shop on campus.

It was a plot point in the Busiek Avengers that Janet designed new outfits for Justice and Firestar when they joined the roster.
Firestar didn't really like how daring her outfit was but also was too nervous to tell Original Avenger Wasp that. But she later wears a variant with the massive plunging neckline covered up so either she got up the nerve, Jan figured it out, or Jan just changed the design because changing designs is what she does.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThey could have given him a success or two. Marvel isn't a stranger to villain redemptions. Few stick in the long, long term because of the forever story thing. But EMH wasn't a forever ongoing story where there needed to be a steady supply of villains at all times.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThis is Eternals-specific (no spoilers though), but since I heard their theme I've been thinking how much the key part of it sounds like the theme of the first Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.
Bear with me:
0:55 to 1:09.
0:12 to 0:30.
Am I going crazy here or are The Eternals part of the Ultimate Alliance?
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I think the fact that Browntable was stumbling between which of the leaked Thor art to use, and noting how he wasn't even sure if it was finalized, was emblematic that he should've just left it off as his smoking gun.
Personally, I don't really find the "overdesigned" critique to hamper my experience with these costumes, as I generally find them still readable (and in some cases, I tend to like the MCU suits more than their comic book counterparts).
People have had their say on Shang-Chi and Black Panther's Civil War suit (on-set) looking awkward/awful based on the same leaks or merchandise art, then changing their tunes upon their proper contextual releases. I imagine that will probably happen for Thor and Ms. Marvel.
I can, at least, understand that Browntable feels that these are generally just nitpicks and doesn't really ruin his experience either.
Also, by coincidence, there was a trending Twitter post that complained how they were sick of Costume Evolutions and just want the finalized suit as soon as possible.
Can you give me a link to that Twitter thread?
And yeah, it's also a point of contention for me. I don't really get why every MCU character never wears the same costume for more than one film. Is it just to give the costume designers a job?
Holland's Spider-Man literally has never had a consistent look, and I'm quite annoyed about it, because I love the Homecoming suit.

I'd bring back Killmonger, but in that afterlife the Black Panthers access when they eat the herb.
