Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

So Wright did see reason. A lot of reasons. A lot of green Ben-Franklin-faced reasons.
Seriously though she's still on my shit-list after her antivaxxer stint and while the rumors of her continuing it on set have been shaky that's not behavior that just turns off by nuking their Twitter. So as long as she's not causing problems I don't really have much to grind an axe on but I still don't like her keeping the role (especially when she's likely intended to be a female role model as a scientist!) and I can't help but feel it's only a matter of time before the pin drops.
I would say they are already giving away quite a bit with the tease. Is he beating up Anubis?

Sincerely S Awatching.I'm cool with M'Baku being the new Black Panther. Heck, I think Winston Duke would've made a good recast for T'Challa if he hadn't already been part of the franchise.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonCan’t wait for the synergy when M’Baku becomes black panther in the comic (sincere)
I don’t think they’ve done that before. But to be fair there’s a non jerk space M’Baku who is the likeliest to get the job
I don’t even remember where original flavor M’Baku is currently
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn the previous trailer the same shot was shown and he was seemingly just beating up a random guy. Knowing Moon Knight, there's a 70% chance he's beating up a random guy he's hallucinating as a Anubis-like creature/sees for his true form as a Anubis-like creature.
Dead, I think. Original M'baku was killed during A Nation Under Our Feet.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Gotta say, I'm not really a fan of Ethan Hawke's hairstyle. He looks like a mix of Jared Leto and the guy who aged himself to death by drinking the water in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."He's in all likelihood playing this guy
◊ (the Sun King) so the hair tracks. The beard seems to be missing though.
He almost became Black Panther himself in the first movie to.
He's not a bad choice all things considered.
That being said, I'm surprised they haven't considered Nakia or Okoye as well.
One Strip! One Strip! If i had to handwave a handwave in universe M’Baku gets the nod to try to create solidarity between the Jabari and the rest of Wakanda
But like they already seemed to get along pretty well when they helped fight Thanos
Diplomacy is an ongoing process though
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThough the cartoon is, now, super dated and old fashioned at this point, I'd be down for a homage to think banging theme song when the make the Fantastic Four movie.
It's probably not going to happen because Hanna Barbera, but still. Plus, I guess the whole homage to the classic Iron Man cartoon theme in the first Iron Man was a sort of Early-Installment Weirdness, seeings as Marvel Studios never did anything like that again.

x3: I'm a fan of the orchestra take on Spider-Man (1967) theme used for MCU Spidey, so I wouldn't mind a similar rendition for the Fantastic Four.
That, or it could just be a simple as a ringtone excerpt from Johnny's phone. Though we could crack two birds with one stone...

I think my picks for Black Panther go, in order:
-Okoye
- M'Baku
- Nakia
-Kevin Kole (I understand that shorthand this name probably creates some baggage, but in short this would be a fairly heavily reworked version of the character who is still Wakandan-native, but one of those deep cover agents Killmonger mentioned, maybe based in New York?)
-No Black Panther at all, leave the mantle empty for a movie
- Shuri (even independent of the Letitia Wright issues, one of the things I like about the Black Panther of the movies is that, while he does have a sense of humor, he generally brings a greater dignity to the role than we've seen in a lot of Marvel offerings, and I feel like making Shuri the Black Panther will either take that away or force Shuri to change to fit a niche that worked in the comics where she's a completely different character)
Do not bring back Killmonger. Do not do it. If you want to do a redemption arc storyline, W'kabi is right there (still lower than Shuri though) and doesn't require you to resurrect the former main villain of the first movie and spit in the face of your reasoning for not recasting out of respect for the real-life tragic passing of your lead.

M'Baku definitely seems like a logical choice; I've seen a lot of people suggest him. Before we found out about the Wright situation Shuri would have been my first choice, but if she's staying in the role then I'd definitely rather not.
