Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The Celestials, I think?
Either that was an explanation given for why most aliens in Marvel look vaguely the same or I'm conflating it with Doctor Who.
Although, I think Star Trek had a similar explanation so its douchey cosmic beings all the way down.
But yeah, in Marvel there really are space gods going around messing with genetics on planets all across space.

I haven't actually seen Eternals yet so I don't know if it confirms anything about higher beings controlling and guiding evolution across the cosmos within the MCU.
You don't wanna learn about labyrinthine vaginas and corkscrew penises?

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Since we got our first explicitly homosexual character in Phastos, hopefully we can bump it up to Phyla-Vell and Moondragon.
I kinda hope Phyla has a chance at appearing in Marvels since she was Captain Marvel before as well as being the daughter of Mar-Vell himself.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think it's just a holdover fantasy trope, from back when Half-Human Hybrids were an accepted possibility because we didn't know about genetics.
I remember it was a thing in the X Wing books.
Of course, in Star Wars aliens mostly can't crossbreed so the human and bothan were going to adopt. Before she faked her death because specifically fuck Borsk Fey'lya. Which was a common sentiment at the time.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI always thought Loki was a show about this hilarious 1950's Kafkanesque temporal nightmare agency tinged by satire....and also Loki feeeling sorry for himself. It just so happens that to my great sadness the latter is the focus rather than the former, so I'd have pretty much liked a TVA show.
By now I think that boat has well and truly sailed though, what with TVA becoming Kang's footsoldiers in earnest after Sylvie killed HWR.

I don't really know what's up with that. It started with Feige saying WV, NWH, and DS2 would be a spiritual trilogy, then someone added Loki into that grouping when the Kang reveal came out. With the growing focus on The Multiverse as a whole in Phase 4, the sections mentioning them on the pages should probably be deleted.
Not really sure how to feel about the costume. On one hand, very Jack Kirby. On the other, the helmet just feels weird after so many movies without it.
Quantumania being disconnected from the rest of the Multiverse-centered installments does seem a bit odd, especially since Kang is technically introduced in Loki and goes on to be a threat for Ant-Man and the Wasp.
And if Multiverse of Madness is supposed to put a cap on that arc, it does seem odd to put Kang after that resolution.
I'm not sure if I'd jump to delete Loki references on that section though, since Sylvie is responsible for the multiverse coming into existence, and we even see what it looks like in What If.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."The Kang in Quantumania might not even be the same Kang as in Loki Season Two, and it's possible that neither are the Kang that's the Big Bad of the next saga.

Don't forget; it wasn't just bestiality, it was necrobestiality!
But yeah, it's always really weird to me in sci-fi settings where not only do all the aliens look like humans, but they're somehow romantically or even genetically compatible with each other. Why did the Xandarians look exactly like humans? How was that one guy able to make a child with some magenta alien woman?
Unless there's some powerful theological force in play— some kind of micromanaging creator deity guiding all life to evolve toward a similar genetic outcome —it kinda breaks my suspension of disbelief.
