Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Marvel has the rights to Spider-Man animation, but as seen in the actual What If, there's only so much you can do with him without getting Screwed by the Lawyers. And seeing as though the zombies episode couldn't even use Peter's Homecoming suit, I highly doubt the symbiote suit is on the table.
RE the Black Suit concept art, I'm of two minds. It is genuinely creepy, which is cool.
But I would think (at least initially) that the Black Suit should look from the outside like a normal costume. And wouldn't make anyone suspect that it was sentient alien space goo (they'd probably just figure it was made up of the ubiquitous nanomachines).
So, the way I'd imagine it, the symbiote would have that kind of creepy look when bonding with Peter and when it starts taking him over. But in between would just look like spandex.
I happen to agree actually, I was more making a scenario where Targetmaster Joe's scenario could work.

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI'm not positive how to make it look good in live action but I also prefer the look of the suit in the comics/cartoons to the Palette Swap of the Raimi version.
Huh I'm surprised to see any positivity towards the Spider-Man 3 suit. I always found it visually unappealing, dull in colour and a rather displeasing texture.
When the symbiote is being an oil slick creature it looks really striking, so it always baffled me they decide to forgoe that for the suits themselves.
Peter has worn (non symbiote) black suits in both FFH & NWH so if he ends up with a symbiote suit it will be interesting to see how they make it visually distinct - maybe the creepy organic look is a good choice there.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I said this before on the Fridge Brilliance section on Spider-Man: No Way Home, but I think it's really clever to have the memory of Peter wiped from everyone's minds in the MCU from a Doylist perspective. Since referencing Spidey in any manner is basically impossible without coming into issues with Sony, this is a great way for people to never have to acknowledge Peter in future works in-universe without Marvel getting in hot water for doing so out-of-universe.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Yeah. I think the intent is pretty clear on its own. It's a soft reboot, meant to transform Peter from a successful high school student with a loving aunt, a foot in the door with the Avengers, and a thriving social group into a young adult alone in the world, struggling to make rent while balancing trying to have a social life with the pressures of being a superhero.
It's pretty much MCU One More Day. There's a subset of Spider-fans who think that the only true Spider-Man is a swinging bachelor Peter ditching out on dates with no explanation because duty called, then coming home to find yet another eviction notice posted to his front door. Dem's the breaks when you're a lonely Misery Sink, not allowed to actually have anything in your life because your secret identity constantly interferes.

You could make it work. It could be that strange does a spell that goes wrong for a different reason and Eddie gets sucked to the universe briefly, but then strange quickly undoes it, having the symbiote be left in the world. If there were Sony rights problems you could even have Eddie entirely offscreen. I believe since marvel has rights to animation, you could do that with the symbiote.
