Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I thought the same thing.
Blackjack! Captain Blackjack O'Hare!
Racoons! Humans! And Nova Corp beware!
....wow. Even works with the damned song. He's definitely a reference.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm figuring that's what the talk before was about, unsure of how reputable Screen Geek is as a source.
Of course, knowing Gunn if it spreads around enough he'll probably confirm it true or fake within a day.
(I'll note I've been seeing High Evolutionary stuff float in and out for a couple years now.)
I mostly want to see Moondragon and Phlya'vell so I can see Drax deal with his daughter being alive, his conquest of revenge never having actually helped his daughter, and also that his daughter is involved with a Kree.
But I have no idea how you'd tie that into a plot with Adam Warlock and the High Evolutionary.
Honestly, I don't think you do. With the High Evolutionary/Adam Warlock plot and Gamora v2.0 both apparently being things (not to mention Thor is still around for at least part of the time) it's going to be quite a dense story I think.
Drax will no doubt end up background again, sadly.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I really don't expect Drax' actor to stay in the role beyond Guardians 3, he's said as much that he's leaving then. So either than or the holiday special are the last chance for proper Drax' content.
I feel like we're getting the holiday special in part because Endgame left the guardians pretty far from the status quo so James Gunn has time to get the team where they need to be for their third full film.
TIL that in Wanda's fight with Thanos in Endgame, she was originally
going to break Thanos's helmet by lightly tapping it on the forehead around the same spot where he ripped the Mind Stone from Vision's forehead.
Personally I like better her just trying to rip him to shreds
Too angry for irony
Forever liveblogging the AvengersCross-posting from the NWH thread (relax, no spoilers):
Still haven't seen NWH (I know, shame on me), but I wanted to share one of the movie's concept artists tackling what an MCU Black Suit Spidey could hypothetically look like.
NGL, I greatly underestimated how creepy a gooey substance like the Symbiote would look on a live-action Peter. Like, holy cow!
The normal Spidey lenses might seem a bit off, but I can picture the eyes looking more and more like SUMC Venom as the Symbiote influences Peter over time.
Actually, I had an idea for a What If...? episode, "What if Peter Parker stopped being Spider-Man altogether?" and it would have Peter having the Black Suit for Infinity War. But as I type out the basic story beats, it kinda leaves me at a blank.
Like, we know how Tony confiscates Peter's suit and the latter resorts to his homemade suit to stop the Vulture, right? What if Peter doesn't even bother trying to stop Vulture and lets him rob Tony blind? And then Tony tried dialing up Peter, but big surprise, Peter ghosts him? Several times? And then at some point, Peter gets ahold of the Symbiote a little before the Children of Thanos' invasion, rejects Tony's Iron Spider suit, and just curbstomps Thanos in the Battle of Titan?
EDIT: Sony might have a problem with it, though. Maybe.

"The High Evolutionary is responsible for Rocket Raccoon" is something I've been hearing as a rumor-slash-fan-theory for a while now and it's one I'm super down for. It's an extremely clever bit of Canon Welding, tying the planet of Funny Animals to the guy who makes different Funny Animals. Taking all things with salt but hoping it happens.
