Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think part of the reason people don't wonder about that is because space is such a non-entity right now. The MCU thus far has mostly used it to provide settings for cool action romps, but given us little in the way of an idea of what life is actually like out there. This is a consequence of our only spacefaring properties thus far being about a criminal mercenary band and an imperial soldier.
So our knowledge of things is limited to stuff like "Xandar: It sure does have Nova Corps" and "Hala: They have an imperialist military."
A lot of Earth-based properties have a similarly narrow scope with little in the way of actual Earth culture being shown. But the audience can fill in the gaps about what it's like to be a civilian on Earth.
So. Like. Before Marvel can tell us what it was like to experience the Blip on Hala, they would first need to tell us what it's like to even live on Hala at all.

Well, we did get a taste of Hala's culture in Captain Marvel (2019). I'm sure it could be expanded upon a bit after the Snap in a future installment.
They seem to be saving up for something cosmic. There's a lot of "the Avengers are in spaaaaace, doing spaaaaace things! What is it? Who knows? Spaaaaace!" and at this point it would be a mite disappointing if it was just lead-in for Secret Invasion: especially since that's predominantly an Earth-based story.

There is a lot of talk going on that the High Evolutionary is appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Sincerely S Awatching.I'm guessing they're a comics character? I haven't watched GOTG 2 in years so I forget if they were mentioned in that.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrHe's pretty much a robot guy who does weird experiments on people.
EDIT: Okay, I keep forgetting that he's not a robot and that's just armor. In my defense, he's not shown outside of it a lot.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonOh, that would make sense to bring him in if they want to explore Rocket's backstory.
That said, taking all rumors with a grain of salt.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.A movie about Rocket's backstory, even if they change it to be connected to the Evolutionary, means a movie that's not about Peter trying to woo New! Gamora, so I'm down.
Also if they composite Rocket's backstory into High Evolutionary, they could maybe also composite Cosmo into it hopefully perhaps please.
And even more also, the High Evolutionary means we could also possibly get the greatest Marvel character of all time. I'm talking, of course, about Hippo.

I hope Guardians 3 introduces Lylla
, Rocket's wife and heiress to a massive toymaking empire.
High Evolutionary has a bunch of easy aids for the plot of this film. He's directly involved in the comics in the backstory of Adam Warlock, and the Sovereign, while being a Canon Foreigner culture, could fairly easily link to him (as they're a group of genetically engineered perfect people, his stomping grounds). Rocket also, as mentioned.
Using him as a main villain would make a lot of sense, even if the rumours are (as usual) doubtful. So it's possible we're on the right track.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."That has to be a reference to Bucky O'Hare, right?

So, in a completely hypothetical scenario, if Marvel and Netflix were to work out an agreement:
If you had the power to choose, would you rather have Netflix continuing to produce content for the characters they had shows for or would you rather have shows produced on Disney + itself?
