Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

He'd probably be a Doctor Strange-Ghost Rider affiliate. The satan archetype making deals left and right.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
I feel ya. I actually went over to the Multiverse section of the MCU character page, and I freaked out upon realizing that there were commented out NWH entries on there. Clicked off before I could absorb the info tho.
Other than that though, I've been alright. I'm knocking on wood though just to be safe.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I'm looking forward to seeing how No Way Home performs at the box office.
It's hard to measure Black Widow and Eternals because these are unusual times. Neither film has performed impressively, but it's impossible to say how they would have performed if COVID wasn't a factor.
No Way Home, however, is a guaranteed billion-dollar concept. It's a cinematic event. For fans of the Spider-Man movies, this is like Sony's Avengers. Under normal circumstances, it would be certain to hit that billion-dollar mark.
So, how well No Way Home performs will give us a decent benchmark understanding for how seriously Black Widow's and the Eternals' dismal performances should be taken.
EDIT: Also Shang-Chi, which has outperformed Black Widow and it remains to be seen if Eternals will match it, but all three films are well below Marvel's typical numbers. It's clear that COVID is impacting the box office, but No Way Home will give us a good idea of how much it's impacting.

You think that's bad? I'm not gonna be able to see it until Sunday... no Reddit or Youtube, not even multiplayer Steam games. It's driving me a bit stir-crazy since those have become some of my key time occupiers... Thankfully people on TV Tropes at least are pretty good about hiding spoilers, so I'm not totally offline.

Huh I just had a thought about how Scorpion could be brought in.
Since we’re building up to sort of a Dark Avengers thing, Mac would be brought in but not as Venom but as Scorpion similar to how John Walker’s US Agent identity is regarded as similar to Cap but different.
Mac gets the experiment so the team can have its own superior Spider-Man analogue.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."You must secretly be me. I've only recently learned to stop myself from doing that.
But I still learned a potential spoiler anyway from the Hawkeye thread of all things.
We'll see if it's true or not, though it's credible based on old information.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Ooh. I like that a lot. I'm really looking forward to how much Yelena and Walker will hate each other. And it will be even more of a Dysfunction Junction if there is one or more team members who is just a vicious criminal.
I've also seen a suggestion that Gargan will be the MCU's Venom from the outset I think this relates to some No Way Home spoilers. And then Flash will be a Redeeming Replacement Agent Venom. So no Black Suit Peter necessarily.
I kind of like that idea of Gargan as Venom from the outset, because since the MCU version of Gargan is a violent gangster, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to make him a Composite Character with Lee Price
. Who don't get me wrong, is a terrible character. But I kind of like the idea of the MCU doing something completely different with Venom.

I'm not going to the theaters either, yeah, so I'm making do with spoilers until NWH makes its way to D+ and I can watch it then. Helps that I haven't seen the Garfield/Maguire Spidey movies and don't have a super deep attachment to Holland's.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrI'm seeing it tomorrow....even though it's really cold where I am.
But I just got a Covid Booster shot, and I'm always wearing my mask.
This is happening. Nothing will stop me.
So I will destroy everyone who posts spoilers.

Anyone.
I don't have anything else to say on it, so I figured here was fine. It's the MCU thread and I used spoilertags.
Non-spoiler news, the film was very good, so everybody planning to see it look forward to that.
