Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

You can justify it as Mantis' future vision allows her to be aware of the stuff.
The Guardians game had a pretty cool interpretation of Mantis as being constantly aware of parallel universes and being somewhat unsure which is happening.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, it made her a very weird, yet fun character to be around. Constantly making remarks like, "Oh, good, this is one where that happens! That means none of you die in the next five minutes. Oh, unless this is the one where you blow up the universe."

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Reminds me of that one character from Voltron Legendary Defender.
He could see multiple futures and shit.
And that's that. It's Legendary Defender, so I'll say no more.
I didn't know Mantis could seem multiple timelines. Is that a power she has in the main MU?
One Strip! One Strip!Do they? That’s amazing considering the roster has included Dr Druid
Or Moondragon who only joined the Avengers to convince people to quit the team
Mantis was an Avenger for all of five unobjectionable minutes and a helpful house guest and girlfriend to an Avenger for longer
I can’t see her as the worst Avenger at all
Even new Captain Britian nevermind Lionheart was worse. She joined for one mission and then got exploded and unceremoniously removed from the team while she was in the hospital.
Or hell, are we counting all the spin-off teams? Fucking Eric O’Grady was secretly an Avenger.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHe apparently was legitimately trying to be better.
But then he died during Siege, and no one cared (because he's still kinda an asshole) so when he came back in a Life Model Decoy as Black Ant, he just decided to be a villain.
So good work proving everyone right there Eric.
One Strip! One Strip! He died in Secret Avengers and nobody cared because he was replaced by a LMD him on the team as a mole.
They cared when they learned but due to the circumstances it was more 'you asshole' directed at the LMD.
And then the LMD Black Ant became a those two guys with Taskmaster and it never really seemed to come up or matter that he was involved in the death of Eric O'Grady Ant-Man and nobody ever spoke of Eric O'Grady again.
Possibly because so much of his panel time in his eponymous book was spent being a creep.
Long live Scott Lang, the one true garbage fire Ant-Man.

....well at least they did care, but man, that's kinda worse. At the same time, yeah. Eric was a horrible person, who hadn't done anywhere near enough to redeem himself when he died, but it comes off a little as a Heel–Face Door-Slam.
I suspect he was the one killed because if the LMD acted out of character, no one would even notice due to nobody liking him.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh right. That happened back during the Hunted Arc.
That's pretty cool. And like, Taskmaster is pure mercenary so it says a lot that he's willing to go back for him.
Of course, Taskmaster is the reason he was in danger in the first place.
One Strip! One Strip!Given how much the MCU has become its own world after 26+ movies, there are just a few things coming or rumored that I struggle to see how these things would mesh in. Nitpicky I admit.
X-men and Mutants: So far there going to continue with the X-men cartoon, but bringing them into MCU sounds a stretch because the basic point of mutants is that there are people who suddenly develop powers, which just hasn't been shown cast really MCU wise.
World War Hulk: If this is true I can only see it In Name Only adaption given Thor: Ragnarok was half of the prologue.
Anyone else seeing an arc featuring the Multiverse starting with Loki and continuing with Spider-man and Doctor Strange.
That arc actually officially started with WandaVision. Marvel announced it as such ahead of time.
Y'know, it is kinda funny that WandaVision is being treated as the beginning of this whole Multiverse saga. I mean, outside of that fake-out with Pietro, I don't think anything really multiverse-related happened in that show, did it?
Makes me pretty confused about why people seem to think Wanda was one of the people responsible for the Multiverse coming to existence just because she became the Scarlet Witch. I would think Sylvie and Strange would hold more responsibility on that front...
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Y'know, if the events of Loki never happened, I wonder how the TVA would be dealing with the multiversal threats happening in the Sacred Timeline right now.
I can only imagine how interesting it would be for Doctor Strange, Wanda, and Peter to be apprehended by the TVA and be shown what would happen in their lives in the Time Theater before being pruned...
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."If the events of Loki never happened, would those films' plots even be possible to happen?
Like, Strange couldn't accidentally summon supervillains from a multiverse that doesn't exist, right?
On the other hand, it's a bit unclear if He Who Remains would care about worlds like the Raimiverse where Nathaniel Richards doesn't exist and therefore Kang is an impossibility.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks Marathon

It’s weird. The Mantis in the Crossing was later revealed to be a Space Phantom because of course. But in the dna Guardians she politely greets Kang like an old friend.
