Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I genuinely wonder how James Gunn is going to rerail the character after that. With the one-two punch of Infinity War and Endgame, plus What If, it's gonna be a steep slope to climb.
Of course there's Love and Thunder that's yet to happen, but I doubt Taika Waititi is entirely focused on Quill's character development for that story.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I do hope there is some progression for the Guardians soon.
They kind of have a perpetual poverty thing going on so unlike say Tony who makes new suits every movie or Peter who is steadily becoming a more competent hero every movie, there isn't really a sense of improvement for the Guardians.
Same crappy ship, same crappy equipment, and piss-poor money because nothing they do ever seems to improve their reputation enough to score consistent work.
I guess its like the Cowboy Bebop crew but a bit more egregious since its not like Spike ever saved the universe or anything. His story and everyone else's for the most part was a personal tale.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Thing is, if their finances improve enough they'd just...settle down and start new lives.
The Perpetual Poverty thing is annoying but it's kind of necessary to keep them going around having space adventures.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, it's kinda hard to measure the Perpetual Poverty thing without figuring out how the general economy in space works. And God knows we got enough of that in Star Wars.
I don't think it's fair to say the Guardians don't ever upgrade though. I mean, the Benatar is loads better than the Milano.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I mean they could just enjoy the space adventuring just for the sake of it. I'm not sure if Quill or Rocket would ever find themselves doing anything else in their lives.
Plus comfortable retirement would cost a lot of money especially for a team of like 5 people.
I forget which ship is the Benatar?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The whole Peter fucking everything up thing is mostly true, but also seems a bit unfair, since unlike everyone else, he was actually willing to sacrifice someone he loved to protect the universe. Sure he failed, but he was willing to pull the trigger on Gamora, when basically everyone else is just like 'no don't kill X, I'll give you the stone.'
Well, that's not fair. Three he takes by force, three he extorts from people.
The Milano was destroyed in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And by destroyed, I mean completely totaled thanks to the Sovereign and that Epic Fail of a crash-landing. And once the Guardians abandoned it on Berhert thanks to the plot progression, they presumably switched to the much bigger Benatar, which is the ship used in Infinity War and Endgame. Currently, the Guardians are still using it. Presumably, repairing the Milano would've taken too much time and units.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."That's actually very fair. When push came to shove, Peter did it. It's funny, because even at my angriest towards Quill, I remembered that yeah, when the time came to fulfill his promise, Quill did it.
And considering he's someone who'd very much have difficulty letting go of things after the loss of his mom and then Yondu, the fact that he honoured her request, despite what it required him to do means he's got a lot of guts.
This makes the whole thing worse. Thanos had no faith Quill would do it (and yet turned his attack into bubbles pre-emptively anyway, thereby making the entire thing meaningless), and what do you want to bet that if anyone else learns he had the chance, they'll assume he pussied out, because he doesn't seem like he has the will to sacrifice something.
So not only will he be blamed for basically giving Thanos the win, he'll have people assuming he couldn't do something we all know he can do.
For the love of god, someone fix Quill. He needs help.
One Strip! One Strip!I don't know. I think there is more of a difference between the ships. It's just that view doesn't really reflect it.
Do we have another angle on the Milano?
One Strip! One Strip!

It reflects the comics in a way. Adam has been very sidelined compared to his huge prominence during all the Infinity titled things and his spike in panel time in the dna Guardians
Pip has been popping up without Adam to sidekick in other books
So he’s like the Rick Jones of space in a way, willing to sidekick for anyone. So shoving him in as Eros’ sidekick fits in that sense. It’s always Pip and some tall handsome bastard
