Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think most likely Johansson will be appearing in Secret Invasion as a Skrull.
Honestly, Secret Invasion seemed to me like an odd choice for phase 4, but I like the idea of not treating the Skrulls as a monolith.
And it'll probably give Marvel a few chances to throw in cameos just to have the characters in question turn out to be Skrulls. I'm hoping we get a kind of Paibok character out of it, too.
This is pretty unrelated but Netflix is releasing in a couple days a superhero anime by Studio Bones based on a Mark Millar comic titled Super Crooks.
Makes me wonder what a Marvel show animated like this could be like.
And yes I know there were already 2 Marvel animes previously, Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers & Marvel Future Avengers. Those are more like the Ultimate Alliance of TV shows, just big crossover affairs to bring in as many character's as possible but without being about anything specifically in a pretty general glossy art-design.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Not just those. There was the Iron Man, Wolverine, Blade and X-Men animes.
There was also Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, and the Black Widow and Punisher Movie as well.
So Marvel knows the appeal of mixing their stuff with anime.
One Strip! One Strip! You've reminded me of the Punisher and Black Widow movie so now I must defeat you.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe portrayal of Wolverine between the Wolverine anime and the X-Men anime is hilarious. Here's what he looks like in Wolverine:
And here's what he looks like in X-Men:
The best part is that these are the SAME Wolverine! The four shows were in continuity with each other, this is supposed to be the same incarnation of the character! The characters make references to the events that happened in the other shows!
By the way, when Wolverine made cameos in the Iron Man and Blade animes, he had his Wolverine design.
The shows are fantastic, though, don't take this as a criticism of their quality.

With regards to No Way Home, I have noticed a lot of "Angry Kevin Feige" memes. Has he ever acknowledged them?
It started with the No Way Home trailer leak, and whenever there is a chance of Tom Holland or someone else potentially spoiling elements of the movie, there is this joke that Kevin Feige is off screen pointing a gun at them, threatening them to not reveal anything

I definitely am curious to see what Feige thinks of those memes, as well as the memes that have spawned from the MCU as a whole.
Minus the photoshopped sniper rifle image, I'd like to think Feige has a relationship with them that's comparable to Reggie Fils-Aime's thoughts on them. They can't exactly be planned or forcibly made, but they create a great relationship with the creator and the audience.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."As someone who thinks the whole "aw Tom Holland can't keep a secret Uw U" is a narrative at least partially boosted by Marvel, I'd bet it's a No Such Thing as Bad Publicity ("bad" in this case isn't even in the malicious way, just the affectionate way) thing. Ultimately it's all business and you don't get to be the world's most profitable film franchise by caring about a few memes.
Hey, anyone remember how Feige made a memorable face when Amy Pascal insisted that Venom was set in the MCU?
He made a similar one when Hailee Steinfeld brought up the Young Avengers recently in an event for Hawkeye. I mean, we all know it's coming, Kevin. No need to panic.
RE: Moon Knight: I know the MK teaser is behind us by now, but I'm surprised by Oscar Isaac's choice in accent for Marc Spector. Sounds like, what, British? Always thought Marc was American.
Plus, a few pages back,
M84 mentioned the irony of Marc following an Egyptian god and it took me way longer than it really should have to realize why that's ironic.
Absolutely bone-chilling.
RE: Moon Knight memes:
Again, very late response, but I would pay great money to hear Oscar Isaac read Moon Knight memes as MK.

Hell, there's been a few times where Marvel has made a few online jokes an Ascended Meme. Rocket asking for Bucky's arm and uploading that hour-long Zemo dance on YouTube are two things that I can remember off the top of my head.
If there's any meme from Moon Knight I want to see in the show, it absolutely has to be "RANDOM BULLSHIT GO!"

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."![]()
I think my favorite line there is "My FATHER'S God took us out of Egypt, My NEW God had kept us there."
Like wow the massive symbolism there. Especially in Biblical myth where God helped led the Jewish people out of Egypt and did so through the plagues which were created in their specific ways to make a mockery of the Egyptian Gods.
Marc really did commit the ultimate betrayal. He turned his back on God to serve under the God of the society that once enslaved his people. Darkly ironic.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Though how religions would inevitably change in the Marvel Universe when gods of various pantheons are proven to exist and regularly interact with the public ... probably something it's best not to think too hard about.
"RANDOM BULLSHIT, GO!!" is the only one I think they could maybe work in without it feeling shoehorned (and it is my favorite) but yeah, probably not happening and probably for the best it doesn't.
I would still pay to hear Oscar Isaac voice it though.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! In Marvel and DC, all religions and mythologies are real simultaneously, even when they contradict each other. The various pantheons tend get in fights over who actually started the universe.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonEven then there is still a bit of a distinction between a God and the capital G God.
Its kinda like there is a shit-ton of demons but they are all scared shitless of the arrival of the great Satan himself.
Beta Ray Bill has some interesting thoughts on the concept of worship and faith in the daily life of having a God as an oath-brother.
"The Anti-Nihilist: Beta-Ray Bill, despite calling Thor "oath-brother" and meeting the Norse pantheon, does not believe in God in the traditional theological sense and finds worshiping any so-called gods 'obscene.' As he puts it: "If there is nothing but what we make in this world, brothers... let us make good.""
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

What's going on here?
Edit: Page topper... so uh, how 'bout that Spider-Man: No Way Home, huh?
