Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Huh? Really? That's...unexpected. Wouldd've thought she would want to be in the movies more instead of less.
In fact now that I think of it, it's kind of a good thing the Amazing franchisee didn't take off. Because then we would've had to deal with Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane in future movies, which...really wouldn't have aged well.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh...""[Fans ask] about whether or not the films are going to stay true to her story... Which I'm hoping they are. Essentially the argument is that Spider-Man kills her by accident. So the person she loves is the person who kills her, which is the most horrifying thing. Apparently people unsubscribed to the comic book when that happened because they were just so flipped-out over it... But, of course, I want to stay true to that."
She didn't want it to happen in movie 2 but she wanted to get the chance to do the only iconic in public consciousness Gwen story, her death.
And I guess, since the Amazing movies ended with 2, she got her monkey paw wish.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhy wouldn't Shailene Woodley as MJ age well? Did something happen with her? Sorry I don't normally fallow her work so I am curious.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadHer fiance Aaron Rodgers has come out as an unhinged anti-vaxxer, and while she hasn't explicitly confirmed that she is also one, she's tacitly condoned it, by mainly ignoring it, and coupled with her very Granola Girl leanings, a lot of people think she is one at this point.

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midOh I didn't know that. Yeah her being in the role wouldn't have aged well then.
To get back on track. I wonder why they are keeping the Rami armor for Goblin seeing as that suit is a bit of a meme at this point.

IMO, the biggest problem with the Dafoe Goblin's costume is the static mask - the combination of the Goblin's overall hamminess with the expressionless mouth and face just doesn't really work. It doesn't necessarily have to be a copy of the comic mask, but some way for Gobby to show expression would have been nice.
Okay, unpopular opinion: I actually like the Raimi Goblin mask. Yes, I agree with the criticisms made, but there's just something about its design that I genuinely like. And since you can still see his mouth and eyes on occasion, I think it kinda plays with the double role status of Norman and the Goblin.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I think it makes sense given the goblin equipment was intended for a military contract
I’d still like to see something closer to the comics in a movie but it also makes sense to use what was already in the Raimi movie for something calling back to the older movies
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo the Eternals writers were asked if Ego really is a Celestial
, and their response was basically "That's for James Gunn to decide".
Black Panther 2's continued production delay is potentially due to Letitia Wright being unvaccinated and in London - new CDC guidelines prohibit unvaccinated non-US citizens from entry.
(Note: BP2's production was previously put on halt due to Wright suffering stunt-related injuries.)
Ms. Marvel has been delayed to Q4 2022, which puts it between July and September.

The weird thing about TASM 2 is that Emma Stone advocated for Gwen's death
