Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Mark my words, if that happens and Phil Lord & Chris Miller (or anyone adjacent to those guys) are directing and/or writing and/or producing it, I would actually pre-order IMAX tickets for it and swear off social media until the release because my eyeballs demands they see the best combo on the best screen, completely spoiler and leak-free.
BAD BESTIES FOR LIFE!

Forever liveblogging the Avengers
x5 Y'know, Endgame had a few leaks, but that movie's marketing made it clear how it's great to be surprised. We didn't know Thanos would die 20 minutes into the film and the final battle would be with an alternate version of Thanos.
Leaks take away the fun and build up expectations way too much.

Okey Dokey!I'm willing to bet this is all due to Sony having shit security. Wouldn't be the first time for them.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonOh yeah, we have another interview from Tom Holland, this time coming from GamesRader
. He dubs this film, "three generations coming together."
Was that a slip of the tongue? Holland clarifies: "People don’t believe me when I say that [Maguire and Garfield] are not coming back. But people are going to have to believe me at some point." He laughs. "It means a lot to me. The first time you see Doc and the rest of the characters that come back, it’s so exciting – and it’s such a huge moment in cinematic history. It’s three generations coming together."
You can tell his Peter Tingle has gotten much better at leashing his secrets.

Huh interesting thing to think about, I noticed Marvel's been really emphasizing teams and large casts of characters in regards to cartoons and video games for the most part.
We haven't gotten any say solo projects for any member of the Avengers like an Iron Man show or Thor game, its always strictly an Avengers team thing. Even when Hulk got his own show Agents of Smash, it was explicitly a team show where Hulk starred alongside Red Hulk, She-Hulk, A-Bomb, and Scaar. And of course that and Avengers Assemble has plenty of guest-star appearances from many characters.
Spider-Man's last 2 animated shows revolve entirely around him being apart of a team of heroes as well as guest-starring with a large-cast of characters. The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise another team series receives heavy promotion close to Avengers and Spider-Man, receiving their own show and game. By contrast we haven't gotten a show or game for say Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, or Black Panther. And of course the upcoming Midnight Suns game which is an entirely original property is a team venture featuring a very large group of characters.
By contrast the Insomniac Spider-Man games are a pretty solo venture. The first game just stars Peter Parker without the existence of any other superhero and Miles only becomes his own hero in his own game. Spider-Man 2 will have both playable but as a duo, which is less that Ultimate Spider-Man and the 2017 show which has a minimum of 4 main characters.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Okay, but will the Golden Oldie be in the movie? If not, I riot!
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Holland says No Way Home is'nt exactly a fun ride
, it's 'dark and sad'
"What people will be really surprised about is that it’s not fun, this film," Tom Hollands tells Total Film in the new issue of the magazine, featuring Scream on the cover. "It’s dark and it’s sad, and it’s going to be really affecting. You’re going to see characters that you love go through things that you would never wish for them to go through. And I was just really excited to kind of lean into that side of Peter Parker"
Just quickly noting that Iron Man VR came out last year's July, in terms of modern solo outings. According to Metacritic
, it has a review average of 73.

I would say I had hoped we were past the whole "dead wife trope" thing, but What If…? (2021) did a whole episode around it, so maybe not.

Since TASM2 already failed miserably with their adaptation of The Night Gwen Stacy died, I'd definitely be soured if MJ doesn't make it.
Personally, I'd prefer it if Ned betraying people and becomes the Hobgoblin with the indirect help of Norman Osborn. Yeah, that's probably an unpopular opinion, but I'd like to see it.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."
Isn't two stingers pretty much the standard for Marvel nowadays? I think only Age of Ultron just had one in terms of the last few years (aside from Endgame having zero, obviously).
Oh, yeah, forgot Infinity War also only had one.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonIt did, but that's pretty much the exception.
Come to think of it, Guardians 1 technically only had one, since the Drax and Dancing Groot scene happens right before the credits.
Phase 1 (aside from Avengers) and Iron Man 3 also had just one. Incredible Hulk doesn't have one; it was meant to, but Universal made them put it right before the credits instead.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonWandaVision technically had four as well, if we count each mid-credit scenes for the last three episodes. TFATWS only had one, Loki technically only had two if you count the "X will Return" sequence, and What If only had one. But movie-wise, yes it's mostly been two post-credit scenes at the end.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."

It's the hype, plus general incompetence at Sony I believe.
People may make fun of Marvel Studios for the outlandish shit they pull to prevent spoilers from leaking, which apparently includes mysterious trenchcoat script givers and burner cell phones, but you can't deny that it works. Sony by contrast just seems to try to lock down anything promotion based, and hope nobody can infiltrate and leak them. Which as we've clearly seen, doesn't work.
