Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

For now? Yes. But I'd say it's inevitably going to happen eventually. I mean, the MCU has proven these characters can make money in boatloads, and only made them more popular in the process. At some point, they're going to want to make more movies with Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Thor, ect. And they'll also want to avoid the Continuity Lock-Out issues the comics have.
That's not to say it will happen anytime soon, necessarily. But I'm quite confident one day the MCU train will slow down and stall, after which it's just a matter of time before it's restarted.

If the MCU does end up stalling at some point, do you think Marvel might start making trilogies for individual heroes again like they used to do with Spider-Man and Blade? It might be interesting to see how one can tell superhero stories in their own focused universe without the question of "when will this guy show up". I'd certainly be curious about it.
Like, imagine a Black Panther or Thor trilogy that was just focused in their own worlds without any ensemble films in between. That would be a fun thing to try...

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Who was the idiot who taught Black Bolt how to properly do a Metal Scream?
Wake me up at your own risk.My prediction for the plot of Black Panther 2:
- It's set between Infinity War and Endgame (or, at least the first act is), and a huge part of the plot is the characters debating over who takes over as the next Black Panther with T'Challa gone.
- Someone will mention that apparently, even before the Snap, T'Challa was already suffering from an incurable disease and didn't have very long to live, and he kept it secret from his friends and family. This is to set up the character having died from that disease off-screen after Endgame.
"I can't believe T'Challa found out that there was a space Wakandan empire off-screen and went to overthrow the tyrannical government after Endgame."
"That's wild"
Forever liveblogging the AvengersKing T'Challa is very busy running those outreach programs he wanted to open to uplift black families out of poverty around the globe. He, unfortunately, no longer has time to be gallivanting about being Vibranium Batman and has been forced to delegate.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'm not sure how to put this without it being in terrible taste, but I did call to mind the fact that in-universe, Wakanda has figured how how to cure basically every disease and treat basically every injury.
So, in that context, I don't know if the explanation would work that T'Challa died of an incurable disease.

That I think is probably the most readily fixable issue.
The quick fix would be that it turns out Heart Shaped Herbs can regrow after being burned as long as the roots are still mostly intact and they are provided adequate nutrients. This fact wasn't well known before because people weren't exactly in the habit of torching the garden of the Heart Shaped Herb.
The longer fix would be searching for another Heart Shaped Herb in the wilds of Wakanda. Which could be either the film's prologue or a major plot point.

Maybe they have seeds somewhere. Plants grow from seeds, I've heard.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOr maybe the Heart-Shaped Herb is a placebo, and you just have to believe it gives you the powers of the Black Panther for it to work.
Oh this is a fun quote that describes Thanos pretty well, from One Piece about Kaido the King of Beasts.
"Those who know of him have a certain saying: "If it's one-on-one, always bet on Kaido." Whether on land, at sea, or in the air, it's a widely-held belief that this terrifying pirate is more powerful than any other living creature!"
Yup sums up Thanos. Downright unstoppable, with only 2 people in the entire universe able to kill him and both gained powers from Infinity Stones to do so.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

Eh, Vulcan was one of these concepts that never really resonated with the fans.
Typical "Long long brother" cliche, way too overpowered and whiny to boot. Kinda like the X-Men's (not QUITE as extremely annoying) Superboy-Prime.
