Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The Mind Screw part of Loki's ending is that because it occurs outside of the timestream it impacts all points in time simultaneously. So it isn't just that the MCU's multiverse is open to branching out going forward, it's been effectively retconned to have always been capable of branching out this whole time.
What If technically occurs after Loki only in a strictly Doylist sense, but this is where the MST3K Mantra kicks in.

That's why the show itself is so fascinating. It's like the show is happening before, during and after the events of the Infinity Saga all at once, so you can't exactly put it on an entirely linear timeframe in contrast to the rest of the series. It's why I like to believe Steve didn't receive any TVA interference because for all we know, the Multiverse could've come into existence by the time Thanos was defeated, thus making it impossible for the TVA to track him.
I feel like Quill feeling threatened by Deadpool's existence at first, but gradually starting to relax and become a better person could be amazing character development for him, and would be an amazing story on its own. But something tells me Chris Pratt wouldn't exactly be comfortable with that idea...
The church he's a part of has some notably homophobic CE Os, though Pratt insists that the church itself doesn't hold those believes and he wouldn't be a part of it if it did.
On Instagram, Pratt’s follows include Tulsi Gabbard, Jordan Peterson, The Babylon Bee, Madison Cawthorn, Dan Crenshaw, Ben Shapiro, Nicky Hailey, and Praeger University, among other Republican/right wing adjacent things.
So I’d say extrapolate away.
He may be personally nice and maybe he doesn’t have animus against LGBTQ people. But no one who isn’t a right wing chud would be following all of those people/organizations.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Pratt's one of those types to believe in the separation of professional life and personal life. Everything I've heard says that he's a very nice guy and is very good to work with, so the most that he's guilty of is who he associates with. There was one story of him exposing himself to Amy Poehler as a joke, but that sort of behavior was only disappointingly recently not taboo and I haven't heard of any additional incidents nor anything to suggest the Poehler incident wasn't sufficiently dealt with.
So bottom line, I'm honestly okay with Pratt as long as he doesn't actively fuck up, but I won't blame others for not being as courteous.
I love the idea that Scott Lang, Tony Stark, and Bruce Banner accidentally invented the Multiverse by setting up the Time Heist.
Regardless though it would be nice for Quill to gain a truly genuine friendship with someone, anyone really.
I mean sure the Guardians are pretty close overall the dynamics between the group is fairly acerbic, more along the lines of vitriolic best buds so there tends to be a decent amount of mocking and bickering going about.
A kinship with less wanting to strangle the other out of frustration for something they have done like with Rocket.

Those three specific characters being indirectly responsible for the multiverse is...actually pretty on point for all three of them. Scott's the guy who randomly suggests it to see if it could work, Tony's the one who does it to prove it can be done, and Bruce is the one who just goes along with it to make people happy.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Sony's decision to keep a lid on most things No Way Home is biting them in the ass. Severely.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."At this point the trailer is going to leak out anytime...
I think the only thing that's even certain is that the fan backlash when people find out a lot of their theorycrafting was wrong is going to make the WandaVision / Ralph Bohner fiasco look like a slumber party. I'm already making popcorn.
Okey Dokey!

I meant more in terms of his toxic masculinity, but yeah you aren't wrong.
