Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

EMPIRE Magazine this month has a feature on No Way Home, one of it's covers
alludes to Sandman being included in the movie
As I recall, that was largely true of Jessica Jones. Not so much the other shows. I mean, Matt's only sex scene was a flashback with Elektra. And for a couple with Foggy and Marci, they used the Sexy Discretion Shot.
Okey Dokey!Wasn't there a scene in the teaser of a wall of sand blocking an electric blast? I thought that we were assuming that both Electro and Sandman were involved already.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.
Well yes, along with Jamie Foxx's casting on the matter. The EMPIRE cover is just reaffirming the villain selection, with new evidence regarding Mysterio.
By the way, The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came out very recently on October 19. The $150 doorstopper
On that note, a particularly annoying tidbit was uncovered regarding the Netflix shows' characters, as provided by an page excerpt from MCU Direct
:
If Spider-Man: No Way Home will actually have all of these villains, I can only assume many of them are in minor roles, glorified cameos even. One of the biggest criticisms of Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was that they were overloaded with villains. Surely the MCU isn't going to repeat the exact same mistake?

Further proof that Ike Perlmutter is terrible.
Well, the fact that No Way Home seems to be primarily recycling variants of old villains that we already know instead of having to re-introduce them like in TASM 2 is one step in the right direction. But I do worry that might be a big factor against this film. Not only has this exact problem killed the Spider-Man franchise both times it happened, but it also would make the fanbases for the previous continuities, especially the Raimi fans to go ballistic.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I definitely remember Tony being shown onscreen either right before or after having sex with women in several of his films, and there was that scene between Scott and Hope in their second film. Not overt sex but definitely as close to it as you can get for the rating.
Also that Eternals title is deliberately misleading, the sex scene is not necessarily between the gay characters, just that both things were under consideration by Chloe for similar reasons before she signed up.

Oh, I don't care whether the scene is between same-sex or opposite-sex characters, it's annoying to watch either way. I can deal with stuff like you said, showing the morning after or whatever, but I don't wanna see characters fucking any more than I'd wanna see them taking a shit. It's gross, private, and unless it's a critical plot element it's pointless to depict on-camera. There's literally millions of more interesting things we could see them do.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
Relevant parts (these events take place prior to Marvel Studios' deal with Sony):
It started off as a pitch for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 from producer Amy Pascal to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. She wanted his input on the project, as he had done on the second entry long ago as revealed by the infamous Sony leaks. After he shot the pitch, he highlighted it was just a repeat of what has come before. He then went on to make the pitch about them cooperating on the next project with Marvel Studios taking on the production side of things, similar to DC and Christopher Nolan‘s deal. Pascal shared her feelings on the inquiry in the book.
"At first, I was super resentful," she admits. "I think I started crying and threw him out of my office, or threw a sandwich at him – I’m not sure which." Then she started to think it through. "By the fifth [Spider-Man] movie, we weren't giving them anything new. And I have to be honest about it, we were trying so hard to be different, we even went into places to be different that we shouldn’t have. We weren’t fresh anymore."
To be fair, there doesn't seem to be any hard feelings about the incident, but I just find the mental image amusing.

Hell, I mean I'd be somewhat worried about Holland's Peter being crowded out of his own movie (and I'm having similar sentiments with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness considering where the rumor mill is going with that film, but that's a separate thread).
Okey Dokey!![]()
It is pretty funny to imagine, although you can't deny that it's pretty unprofessional behavior.
I think the massive amount of character appearances hinted in No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness might be related to Captain America: Civil War's immense success, despite the large number of characters that showed up in that film. If both movies can balance the appearances of other characters without taking focus on the main character like you said, I'd be down for it. But I can't help but agree with your worries.
Huh I just found out Echo has perfect lip reading. So she can actually respond to you vocally, talking to you without any need of sign language.
Yeah that will prolly be cut out of the show because obviously it makes it come across as if she's not deaf at all.
Seriously I read that Echo Phoenix comic and throughout the whole book I was wondering whether she was still deaf or not. I was thinking "Wait did the Phoenix heal her disability?" Apparently not.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."In my experience that is likely one of those Acceptable Breaks from Reality mostly because sign language, by its very visual nature, takes more images to convey. Images in comics take panels, and panels are in short supply. Balloons are much more economic, so lip-reading it is.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Interestingly Eternals: Celestia which reintroduces Ajak and Makkari into the series with their new movie looks, including film-Makkari's disability's. The in-universe explanation is that after a disastrous attempt at contacting her God the dead Dreaming Celestial, Makkari lost the ability to hear, speak, and the use of telepathy which she refuses to potentially fix by a death reset for whatever reason. So Makkari communicates through sign language.
This is how it looks like.
For me, it's a bigger concern with Multiverse of Madness considering it's Doctor Strange's second headlining film.
Okey Dokey!

At least Sersi and Ikaris have known each other for 7000 years, or something.
Sersi and Dane, OTOH? Who knows.
