Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Even if one is making a statement about I dunno human mores, the weather is an issue
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPlus, now that X-Men is a Disney-owned thing, something tells me they'd want to avoid having a female character who's naked all the time. Also don't think Feige would approve, given he's not interested in making Stripperific comic outfits for female superheroes in the MCU. So yeah, I doubt nude Mystique will be a thing going forward.
Although I'm willing to bet that there's going to be some loud complainers from a few Fox X-Men fans when that does happen.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I'm reminded Fant4stic had Thing run around bare-ass naked.
I don't know why, maybe someone at Fox had a fetish for it.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Are we sure it's all just "mutant" pride?
And yeah, I gotta wonder how she remains warm on a mountain somewhere if she doesn't shapeshift into a person wearing clothes.
I'm starting to think that Mystique being naked in the movies was purely because way too many people got horny, and just rolled with it.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I sitll love me some Michael Chiklis-Thing. He and Laurence Fishburne as Norrin were the only perfect casts from the first two F4 movies.

Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianYeah, the "mutant pride" explanation makes sense insofar as why she is in her natural form as much as possible when she doesn't have an explicit reason to be disguised, but it doesn't explain why she always runs around naked in the Fox-verse. It certainly doesn't disallow her from wearing regular clothes when she's not on a mission.
*the writers want her to walk around nude and find excuses to justify it. No Shameless Fanservice Girl is created in a vacuum, I always say.

Xemnu or Maestro, probably. The Leader is his technically most fabled Arch-Enemy alongside Abomination, but I think The Leader works best as a shadowy mastermind with other villains to take the lion's share of the plot (he's used in effectively this capacity in Immortal Hulk, for one), so he'd need someone else for cover.
Xemnu and The Leader as the Big Bad Ensemble sounds alright to me. Xemnu does his "Don't you remember me, kids, Xemnu from the magic planet?" routine while The Leader tries to take control of the Hulk/siphonh his energy. Maybe The Leader as a shady ally to Hulk against Xemnu even, but after Xemnu goes down The Leader's plan of taking over the Hulk takes the center stage.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The Red King may have been the central Big Bad of Planet Hulk, but I would like to see the Spikes and how at first they appear to be a typical zombie plague and then turn out to be more complex so Hulk has to find a way to help them. Even the animated movie didn't adapt their full plot.
It's probably way too early to try introducing The One Below All as an antagonist or even as a Greater-Scope Villain.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI don’t know if movies are the correct medium for the One Below All honestly
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

It's ambiguous as to whether she a) wears clothes and then shapeshifts them with herself when she shapeshifts or b) just shapeshifts herself into herself but wearing clothes. But one way or another, she typically wears outfits like this
◊.
Her attire might change here and there, though the skull hairpiece is universal to her non-disguised looks. But she never just walks around blue and naked.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
