Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I don't remember much from the show but I thought the aura surrounding Lucifer makes people more honest with their intentions, like a form of alcohol intoxication and the thing that made him confused about the love interest was that when he went full blast honesty powers on her, she wasn't impacted and didn't reveal her secrets. Him being a casanova was more from his personality and good looks and (apparently being a good lover). Funnily enough, there was an episode where the police had to interview the people he slept with (because of there being suspicion that the murderer on that episode was possibly a jealous lover of his)and while all of them considered him to good in bed, they really considered him to be just a one night stand and didn't really feel enough to even consider him any more than just a good lay. Thus, it was unlikely that any of them would care enough about him to be jealous of him sleeping around. He was quite heartbroken by that fact.

The Final NameIn some less spoilery news, it seems that Marvel's shifted release dates
might be for less dramatic reasons than we initially thought...

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."The Thor movies are kind of the black sheep of the MCU, prior to Ragnarok. Watching the first Thor film again, I can't help but think that this movie could actually work really well if they just set it on a longer timeframe. Like Dr. Strange, the main thing working against it is that it just happens too fast.
Thor's development and the development of his relationship with Jane are only problems because they occur overnight. But, like, imagine if there had been a time jump put in there.
Loki tells Thor that Odin is dead and he can never come home. Dr. Selvig tries to convince Coulson to release him and fails successfully. They drink, they fight, Selvig makes his ancestors proud, and Thor begins his new life in permanent exile.
Then we move to, like, three years later. Or five. Or something. Thor and Jane are in a long-term relationship, possibly even married. S.H.I.E.L.D. is still secretly monitoring him as well as extensively studying Mjolnir. Loki has governed Asgard while the Warriors Three and Sif conspire behind his back to uncover the truth of what happened on Thor's coronation day. And then they find it, kicking off the rest of the movie.
You'd have to also change the post-credits scene to Iron Man 2, since S.H.I.E.L.D. can't have just found the Hammer yesterday, but I think it'd be for the best. A lot of Thor's stuff in the MCU is predicated on him and Jane being devotedly committed to one another and him loving Midgard more than any other realm. Giving him time to really settle in and become an Earthling properly would make his transition into both the end of this film and the other films fit better.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Speaking of leaks and What If...?, What If...? Season 2 episode titles got leaked:
- What If... Tony Stark Was On Sakaar?
- What If... Odin Never Banished Hela?
- What If... Captain Marvel Killed Yon-Rogg?
- What If... Dr. Erskine Took The Super Soldier Serum Himself?
- What If... It Wasn't Agatha All Along?
- What If... Agents of Shield Was Canon?
- What If... Ultron Won What If...? Season 1?
- What If... I Were To Purchase Fast Food And Disguise It As My Own Cooking?
- What If... A Pebble On Hawkeye's Farm Was Two Centimeters To The Left Of Where It Was In The Sacred Timeline? (Season Finale, sets up Season 3, Uatu seemingly dies for real?)
These are totally real, I swear. My aunt's landlord's brother's co-worker's granddaughter's pet goldfish who works at Marvel Studios told me.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! What If It Actually Was Fox's Pietro? (Plot twist: this still does not introduce mutants to the MCU; Pietro goes back to his home reality at the end of the episode.)
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.... I would watch a super-jacked Erskine beating up Nazis.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them."People often forget the first country the nazis invaded was their own....
...TIME TO REMIND THEM!"
Erskine with the super-soldier serum would basically be Doc Savage.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Ironically Stanley Tucci himself is known for posh/effeminate/gay roles.
So of course I would watch that.

Ooooh that would be fun.
Also pfffft Mystique showing up to Xavier in her naked blue form and then being offended at him telling her to put on clothes.
Girl you wear clothes in every other incarnation. The Foxmen is literally the only version of you that likes to strut around blue-ass naked.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Shaw's plan seemed kind of short sighted, because you still need humans to live long enough to conceive and raise your generation of post apocalyptic mutants. Who won't be visibly mutants until at least 12.
It's a cool idea and is helped by Shaw being seemingly ageless, but what is he plannig to DO for a generation in a nuclear winter?

Yeah, I think it would be best if in the MCU she mostly goes around shapeshifted into "as herself, but wearing clothes" most of the time when she isn't disguised as anyone. When she's not on a mission or otherwise in a position where she might need to shapeshift on short notice, she might just sometimes *gasp* wear regular clothes.

Edit: given that you've not seen any of the Disney plus serieses, which of them are you looking forward too?
(Just to be clear, I was trying to refer to the X-Men. My choice in words was supposed to be a play on their nickname of being "Children of the Atom".)
As for the second point, I guess I'd have to say The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Loki, and Hawkeye.
