Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some concept fan art of Logan's costume on this thread or another one a few times.
One Strip! One Strip!Regarding Scott and Jean, I'd put them both at "overexposed, yet underutilized." They've been there, and frequently do a lot, but somehow it feels like they've not yet once been used well.
I'm trying to think of flagship X-Men who would be worth elevating without feeling overexposed.
Personally, I think a focus on Storm would make sense. She's very notable in the comics and the animated series. She's always just kinda been there in the movies, barring Apocalypse but even then she hasn't had much agency. Kitty'd be a good contender but Elliot Page also would be a hard act to follow, but I think a distinct possibility given the character's role in the comics. Nightcrawler would be good, but... makeup.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I'd put Scott (not X & Mags) at the center of the team. Maybe do Scott/Emma instead of Scott/Jean to differentiate from the Foxverse. Following up on ![]()
, it'd make sense to have Kitty as the Audience Surrogate.

One idea that I've come to really warm up to is Page as a recasted T'Challa. He has a lot of things going for him that put him high on my list; it's certainly better IMO than having another PoC as a body-painted alien.
Plus yeah, Kang is black and the TVA is a black-owned business. So yeah.
The real important news is the fact that Page is even on Marvel Studios' radar, and for something so apparently in-demand. That is very good to see.
His shtick is that he was specifically engineered with the purpose of being "the perfect man" by celestial scientists, born from a coccoon and whatnot. It's why he's named "Adam" (as in he's a sort of new, superior breed of man). So he tends to have a very messianic bent.
This is at its strongest in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline where the conflict is thematically framed as a clash of Thanos, the ultimate champion of death vs Adam Warlock, the ultimate champion of life. With the added irony that Thanos, the representative of death, is highly passionate, manic and lively while Warlock, the representative of life, is extremely cold, dispassionate and stoic.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I for one always prefered Scott and Emma over Scott and Jean (not that I mind the latter).
Despite the....questionable beginning, these two had a great chemistry once the writers got the hang of it.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianI'd want to focus on the students and a marginalised coming of age narrative, to try and hit a different tone from the Fox-men films.
So I guess the protagonists could be any of the iconic X-Men under utilised in the previous film but who don't feel weird being students.
So I'd say Kitty Pride, Jubilee, Gambit and Ice Man. There's probably room for more.
In terms of Adults, I'm tempted to just have Storm be the headmistress so she can at least be assured to get some focus. Emma Frost would be fun, as would Forge. And I'd probably have Collosus appear exactly as he is in Deadpool.
Xavier and Magneto would be in the back story with ambiguous fates.
No idea what I'd do with Scott and Jean.
Plus yeah, Kang is black and the TVA is a black-owned business. So yeah.
Page as T'Challa would come with some colorism baggage, but that charisma of his could certainly be turned elsewhere... Scott? Johnny? Heck, Reed?
I'm on the "don't recast T'challa" camp so I'd rather he did something else. Johnny ain't a bad thought.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."![]()
I've seen the colorism argument, I totally get it as a general argument, but I can't help but find it really fucking awkward that trying to address it means gauging whether or not an actor like Page is black enough.
I'm not black so forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn but...yeah.
Anyway, my main point at the end is more that Marvel should get Page for something. I'm in the "recast T'Challa" camp so I'm fine with that idea, but if they go with something else then so be it.
...Not Johnny, though. I want a "teenage" Johnny who can have teenage adventures with Holland's Spider-Man.
"Is this mixed-race actor [ethnicity] enough" has always struck me as a misconstruing of the actual argument. Nobody is saying that Page isn't black, just that he has privilege that darker-skinned actors don't, and casting him as a previously darker-skinned character feeds into that cycle. Zendaya has been quite graceful about this
. The discourse around Page's Star-Making Role in Bridgerton is actually a good example: people were happy that POC get the spotlight, but questioning why all the major POC passed the paperbag test.
But to avoid getting too off-topic...
Or they could just finally graduate Peter from high school
Let me clarify that the "black enough" comment is as much if not more about skin complexion as it is ethnicity - Page has the advantage of being considered lighter in both. I do get the colorism argument - I get that there are biases favoring lighter-skinned and "whiter" peoples, I get that trying to replace someone particularly dark-skinned like Boseman with someone noticeably lighter is not the best look. I don't think it's an entirely unfair descriptor though at least when it comes to online discourse of such - I will admit that my perception of this topic is probably tainted by those being...not as kind on the subject of Page.
I'm really trying not to derail this topic myself, and I do wanna thank you for the very enlightening references at the very least. I'll end off by noting that high-school, college, whatever, I just want a Johnny Storm that looks like he and Holland's Peter could be like roommates or something without it looking too weird.

I don't know anything about the character but I like the John Boyega fancast/rumor since Disney needs to do right by him.
Eh, I don't, really.
I mean, nothing against the guy, but Blue Marvel is supposed to be middle-aged and experienced.
Michael Jai White would be a good fit, he has the age and the Heroic Build.

Michael Jai White's also a solid pick. Need a guy who can pull off grizzled.
Boyega also definitely needs to be taken for something else, too.
