Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I can't remember exactly what my thought processes were, other than "of course the heroes aren't going to let the Snap stand as soon as they get access to time travel", or that Kang came from a timeline with the Time Heist and so thinks it's essential to his existence. It's a theory that I gave up on once the finale aired, so I haven't thought about it in a while.

Yep. HWR's setup does give him a huge advantage over any other would-be multiversal conquerors who aren't his variants; if he sees one pop up, he can just send the TVA to prune them early. Any alternative solution will have to take into account that variants of Kang aren't the big problem, it's anyone who decides they want to control as many universes as they can.

There was only one universe until the Time Heist created parallel ones. These timelines then performed Time Heists and created more timelines to perform Time Heists and create yet more.
Further uses of time travel over the millennia across the many timelines produced even more timelines, much more disparate from the previous ones. Time grew wild.
Which means, of course, that the entire Kang War happened because Tony Stark invented time travel.
I think Kang being related to anyone is a bit of a pointless trivia since there’s so much time between the present and Kang’s time that he could be related to every important character
At different times he’s claimed to be related to both Reed and Doom and so what?
If it’s Tony instead it’ll be so what because Kang isn’t like Ultron with a hate on for dad. He hangs around picking fights in the time of the Avengers because he’s bored
Forever liveblogging the Avengers Kang is Steve and Bucky's descendant. After Steve went back in time and left him here, Bucky immediately hooked up with Steve's grandchild in a move he calls The Captain Rogers. Centuries later, the bloodlines of Steve, Bucky, and Tony and Sam for good measure, have resulted in Kang.
Mind you, this only happened because these four men biologically reproduced. Kang is the product of franchise-enforced heteronormativity.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.You know, there was talk of how someone would've wanted to see Steve Rogers and Logan in WWII and I raise you Logan and Isiah Bradley. Hell, show us Korea and reveal that Logan is part of how Bucky lost his arm.

Director Chloe Zhao on how Marvel's Eternals will redefine the entire MCU moving forward
Also it was confirmed the movie would have two post credit scenes.
Random insight after our recent mentions of Danny Devito: He'd also make for a absolutely fantastic Mole Man.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

Not surprising.
Obviously there's going to be some element of Marvel hyping up their own movie, but I feel like there might be more to it here. At the very least we are going to get a proper introduction to the Celestials, which shouldn't be underestimated in their importance.
I'm almost wondering if the Eternals will at least start the process of integrating the mutants into the MCU. My understanding is that the Celestials do have a link to at least some versions of the origin of human mutants in the comics, so it's not entirely unbelievable that this will hold true here.
I'm certainly not expecting the X-Men to turn up, but I'm not going to be surprised if one of those post credit scenes involve some of the Eternals talking about the idea of mutants.
Okay, I'm gonna be completely honest. I've had a really difficult time remembering the names of each Eternal, and which one is which.
Only since the character posters have come out have I had better luck remembering them. Off the top of my head, I can recognize/remember Phastos, Sersi, Thena, Gilgamesh, Druig, Sprite and Ikaris. Sometimes.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Like the only one I remember is Ikaris and thats cause he's played by Rob Stark.
Pretty easy to remember Ikaris and Black Knight that way, they played by the Stark brothers.
Wait Makkari is also pretty memorable due to being deaf.
