Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah. It's far too late to play the Magneto is Wanda's dad in this universe.
Plus, the fact that the first mention of her in relation to them is keep her away so we don't get House of M means maybe it's better for both sides if she's not tied to that.
Though also, it means she's not a mutant anymore, but that ship may have also sailed in the MCU.
One Strip! One Strip!WandaVision basically took the salvageable parts of House of M and made the whole thing an actual story that's about Wanda rather than use her as a plot device.
At this point, I'm interested in seeing Doctor Strange and Wanda learn a few things from each other. Doctor Strange in particular really needs to learn how to not be overpowered by telekinetics (given how he was helpless when Ebony Maw immobilized his hands).
I'm also interested in seeing Strange use the Eye of Agomotto's other various abilities in Multiverse of Madness and/or No Way Home.
From the Wikipedia article
:
It looks like Strange is still wearing the Eye in the No Way Home teaser and in leaked Multiverse of Madness crew art, so maybe they plan to make it an actual artifact with its own powers beyond just being a carrier for the Time Stone.
Okey Dokey!Yeah, especially since we almost had that controversy with Simu Liu recently that thankfully turned out to be nothing.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonNotice that this kind of shit is only happening with the minority actors. Gwyneth Paltrow has been running a horrid "alternative medicine" (snake-oil) company for years, and people haven't been going after her to be fired. She's literally worse than Letitia, since she's both anti-vax and profiting off of it.

I think it was announced a while back that Paltrow doesn't have any interest in coming back. So I think anything involved Ironheart or the like will just be Adapted Out or transferred to another character.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Huh off the top of my head the X-Men has Sunfire (Japanese), Karama (Vietnamese), Psylocke (Japanese).
Well, Fox-Men really did a pretty impressive job of wasting female Asian mutants with roles that were theoretically interesting even though they were essentially nothing. Ignoring The Wolverine which is its whole separate bag of worms, X2 had Lady Deathstrike (the beautiful mind-controlled Dragon Lady who snapped out of her mind-control as soon as she was freed), X3 had a Psylocke who was apparently important but I genuinely don't know if she had any lines and died in an afterthought, DOFP had Blink who had a fascinating and fun power but literally no character, Apocalypse had Jubilee and Psylocke who were... nothing.
Like... that's kinda impressive in its own way.
Meanwhile the MCU has like, two Asian superheroes, and I'm gonna pitch a fit if anything happens to them.
Also Mantis, sorta, who is like, a thousand percent less Unfortunate Implications than her comic book counterpart. Also, not a superhero but I do think Jimmy Woo might be the single most non-controversially popular character in the MCU at this point. No one dislikes Jimmy Woo.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Pepper was never interested in being a superhero and she has even less reason to be involved in any Armor Wars stuff now that Tony is dead and she has a daughter to raise. I'd be surprised if we ever see Pepper Potts in the MCU again, let alone in the Rescue Armor.

TBF the Foxmen pretty much wasted every female character......... except for Mystique.
Holy fuck she really is the only female X-Men aside from I guess Rogue and Jean with any substantial characterization and focus, and thats only because they completely retrofitted the franchise to bank off of Jennifer Lawrence's then star power.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Don't you mean killed?
I'm not sure if the movie version of Lady Deathstrike is more or less offensive than her comic counterpart. It's amazing how much tone-deaf stuff there is when it comes to Wolverine.

Errr, yeah. Thanks.
It's kinda impressive that they tried to avoid the Yellow Peril and/or Dragon Lady aspects of the character and choose "hey, let's dive head first into Mighty Whitey and Mellow Yellow territory instead."
But that's kinda what I mean when I say they gave the Asian female characters enough to be... not nothing. Like, her death is genuinely interesting and tragic and yet it's ultimately absolutely nothing. Blink's been noted to have a particularly striking powerset and design and yet literally zero characterization. Psylocke has been The Dragon to three separate mutant groups and yet her personality is "sometimes has a sword."

Even when they gave Mystique more screen-time, it came at the expense of a massive amount of Character Derailment imo.
As boring and two-dimensional of a character Mystique was in the first three X-Men films, at least she was actually a villainous character. I really didn't care for the Adaptational Heroism she got after Jennifer Lawrence was cast. Maybe it's just my nostalgia kicking in, but I prefer her as a snake-like villain to an uncertain hero.
If they do bring back Mystique in the MCU, I hope she's a conflicted and unique character, but still a straight villain.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."
Yeah, given that Disney's in control now, I highly doubt they're going to allow that much nudity.
Honestly, I wasn't all that bothered with Mystique being naked all the time in the Foxmen movies, and I did think that the idea behind it was cool. But it really isn't all that important or necessary in the grand scheme of things, so I'm fine if they give her a comics accurate costume or something close.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."

WV was already the "Wanda has a meltdown" installment, I sincerely doubt we are getting any more House of M.
As much as I miss the comics Magneto-Wanda-Pietro dynamic, introducing it here with a Luke, I Am Your Father would feel cheap too, since so much of the WV catalyst was her love for her family.
Her comics counterpart has served more time as an Avenger than an X-Men-adjacent character in any case, so I don't think she'll have any major ties to them (assuming they even show up in the next decade).
