Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Guy can fit anywhere because he's a mercenary who is only motivated by two things.
The first is money of course.
The second is a bit more subtle — he feels a need to prove that he can even beat superhumans. Just look at his battle with Hyperion in the comics.
The result is a mercenary who is eager to take on supers.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThis whole stink over Taskmaster is frankly, so goddamn stupid to me. You know Civil War's Zemo barely resembles his comic self, but in Fat W has been written to be much closer to "Baron Zemo", right?
In fairness there is a difference of execution between the 2 characters.
Though an amusing contrast between Zemo being a very motivated person who kickstart and move the plot forward through his own machinations while Tasky is a mindless tool with no input on anything aside from being the bluntest of blunt instruments for the real big bad.

The gulf between comics Taskmaster and MCU Taskmaster is so big that it'd feel like an Ass Pull to course-correct the character.
Also, unlike Zemo, it hasn't happened yet, so until then I reserve the right to be disappointed with MCU Taskmaster.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Yeah, I don't like the MCU "incarnation" of Taskmaster which turned a snarky, cool Badass Normal that can copy the memories of his opponents into a second-rate Winter Soldier/Nebula knockoff with no agency.
I would have preferred that Black Widow (2021) or some other piece of MCU media simply adapt Taskmaster as he is in the comics by being a mercenary for hire who is hired by the villain to hunt down say Natasha or Clint rather than trying to shoehorn in a connection to a character that exists as a throwaway line and posthumous at that. Likewise, I would argue that the Ancient One should remain East Asian given the setting.

The weird thing is that MCU Taskmaster's characterization as an Empty Shell Living Weapon conditioned to be a perfect assassin by her parent is more akin to the backstory of X-23.
Disgusted, but not surprisedGiven that Echo has never had her own comic series and thus doesn't have her own supporting cast, I'm thinking to myself what marvel first nation characters could be transplanted into her story.
(Part of my grump with Chakote from Star Trek Voyager was that because there were no other first nations members of the crew his identity often only served as something for the other characters to interact with)
Issue is, most marvel first nation characters areutants tied to the X-Men. Danielle Moonstar and Warpath would not transplant easily. Maybe Forge could work? His power is such that he doesn't even have to know he's a mutant at this point. And being able to make super tech means he's useful in any plot.
I honestly wouldn't call the stuff she spewed borderline racist, it straight up was.
But yeah, Dani is Cheyenne like Echo, but I doubt they're willing to incorporate her at this point.
Maybe the Red Wolf identity
? Don't know anything about those dudes though.
Dani would be cool, but I have no idea how you'd introduce her given that her oragin story and powers throw her straight into her plot, and that inciting incident happens when she's plenty young.
Unless she's literally a child.
But even then you are then committed to adapting her story at some point.

I'd actually like to see Sam in his veteran counseling role that he had in TWS. Have him try to balance Cap life and regular counseling. It could be a neat way to work in characters via his counseling group.
