Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Mordo is Stephen Strange's arch-nemesis in the comics. Like, straight-up. Stephen has bigger villains, but they tend to be too big for him to fight directly, like Dormammu. Baron Mordo is Strange's Green Goblin, his Joker. He's a BIG fucking deal.

Isn't Dormammu his Arch-Enemy. Mordo was back in the day but good old Dorm has overshadowed him.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Given Mordo's whole crusade is about taking magic from those he thinks are undeserving of it, I think that it would make sense for Strange to get Wanda involved on the grounds that she's dealt with such a person herself (in Agatha Harkness).
Okey Dokey!Wanda might be an antagonist to Doctor Strange as the big threat to the Multiverse. Alternatively, if she is not a villain then Nightmare or Shuma-Gorath could be the other Big Bads aside from Mordo given that the former is a Fear Lord and the latter is a Lovecraftian abomination, both of whom fit the horror movie tone of Multiverse of Madness.
I think they could also do something with some of Strange's other family members.

Okey Dokey!Seconding that a hero can have multiple archenemies. Green Goblin appearing in a film universe doesn't mean that universe is never ever going to use Doc Ock. Reverse Flash reppearing in a film universe doesn't mean that series is never going to use Captain Cold. Etc.
Mordo is, absolutely, one of Strange's archnemeses, and more importantly the first film actively sets him up as an antagonist. The OP is right that people are ignoring the fact that Mordo is a big elephant in the room in terms of things that are almost certainly going to be in the movie.
It's another thing that doesn't really work about these theories - they assume Strange's actual circle of characters are going to be insignificant in comparison to characters from other series.

One could say the first Doctor Strange is as much about Strange's origins as it is about setting up Mordo's villainy.
Okey Dokey!

Maybe Mordo will also take the role of further manipulating / corrupting Wanda.
