Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Personally, Manganiello is the only Flash I could see becoming Agent Venomnote , and that’s only if we do a Time Skip for the previous Spider-Men.

Huh I think Manganiello is the forgettable one.
TBF to MCU Flash he has some potential makings of a good character like the implications of parental neglect........ but that would require actually giving him some focus.
He is such a background character like the rest of the high-school ilk.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'd actually argue of all the background students Flash stands out the most just by virtue of him being fucking Flash lmao.
Like I wouldn't say anyone really blends in too much (I've seen worse) but even then Flash's loud ass just refuses to let him drift too far out of focus. It's not exactly random that in FFH he's with the other notable side characters (and not-Gwen) hiding at the Crown Jewels.
Personally, if I had to pick one to get an Agent Venom film, it'd be MCU Flash.
Hear me out. Any character can be a sympathetic protagonist; you just have to write a movie where they are a sympathetic protagonist. So trying to pick one that would "feel best" as Agent Venom feels like a flawed endeavor. None of them feel like Agent Venom, because none of them were written to be the kind of character that Agent Venom is.
Even the Jerk Jock of the Raimi films would have pathos and layers in an Agent Venom film, because that film would write him with pathos and layers. That's how creating new stories works.
But my thing is that the Raimi and Amazing portrayals of Flash feel complete. They don't need Agent Venom. They could probably be very entertaining Agent Venoms, but it's not a necessary step for their characters. You can close the book on them right here, right now, and not feel like you're missing any details about them.
The MCU, on the other hand, keeps dropping these hints and details about Flash that will never be followed up on because he's not a major character. It feels like there is stuff happening in his life, and we only ever see bits and pieces of it. It feels like there is an untold story there. And the only way that story gets told is when Flash Thompson gets to play a prominent role in a film, such that his home life actually matters to the plot.
Which means, unlike Raimi and Amazing Flash, MCU Flash kinda needs an Agent Venom movie. Which he won't get. None of them will. But that's a bigger travesty for him than either of the other two.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Any Spider-Man characters that are used by Marvel/Disney or Sony can't really appear in the MCU or SSU outside of multiversal crossovers. If say Marvel wanted to introduce it's versions of Venom or Carnage well they can't do it because they've been already taken and it would be redundant. Likewise, the SSU can't come up with it's own version of Spider-Man since they're using the Tom Holland version.
Raimi Spider-Man has a shitload of random-ass actors who'd be famous in the future. Aside from Joe Managellio, there's Elizabeth Banks playing Betty Brant, Octavia Spencer in a bit part in film one (she's the lady who warns Pete the wrestling federation won't cover any injuries and prays God has mercy on his soul), Joel McHale as a dickish bank manager in film two, Daniel Dae Kim as Otto's lab assistant, Emily Deschanel as a receptionist. Sam Raimi must have just had a good eye for promising talent.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Great, thanks for giving me an idea for Agent Venom that'll never happen because Sony will never give enough keys to let it happen. Shit, Venom 2's deafening success makes it far more likely that Tom Hardy's Venom is reworked to Agent Venom than anything else. Quick guess would be a combo of Agent Venom and Venom: Space Knight.
Which would probably break a billion because the only thing that matter is big beefcake goofy goop man goes on space adventures, and no I've spent all year in the salt mine and I won't stop now.

@Gaon, there's also Octavia Spencer as a wrestling receptionist for "Famous people who were initially unknown".
... did you read Gaon's post?
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. It’s such a shame that Sony effectively locks the MCU from using Venom related stuff.
Which means no Black Suit arc which would be very interesting to do now since Peter has been getting his ass kicked a lot so he could be very tempted to gain a suit that not only would make him stronger but more aggressive.
But also no Eddie Brock and Venom’s development from psycho villain to Lethal Protector to potential genuine hero, no Flash Thompson becoming Agent Venom, and of course none of the interesting Venom periphery characters like Andi Benton would ever get a shot.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."For context,
x2 is a tweet speculating that the Echo spin-off of the Hawkeye show will "serve as sort of Daredevil Season 4 with most of the series' main cast [including Charlie Cox] returning" and for Daredevil to get his own D+ series "down the line."
Edited by Aleistar on Oct 2nd 2021 at 1:49:15 PM
So now people are trying to say Echo is going to be a Daredevil show and not, say, a show about Echo?
The mere fact that this information comes from a patreon is reason enough to be doubtful. Making people pay for rumors that tell them what they want to hear is a new low.

I would not be surprised to see some Daredevil characters show up in Echo since Echo herself originated in the pages of Daredevil. But the show being a stealth DD season 4 is where I'm skeptical, especially since this would be the first mainstream project focused on a Native American superhero. A team-up is one thing, but essentially presenting her as a Trojan Horse to just do a continuation of Daredevil would have some dodgy implications at best.

I'd say Flash works just enough as a bully in Homecoming, in that Flash is one of the fuels of Peter's insecurities. Flash is not as smart (and people know it) but he's loaded with money and throws parties and is overall Mr. Popular especially with girls, which bruises Peter's ego. It's very much not the case in Far From Home with how much the movie force-feeds him humble pie (including hints that he suffers from Parental Neglect).
It's also still far more than either of the other franchises have done with him. Raimi-verse and ASM-verse Flash is really just a token bully for Peter to overcome before moving on, especially given how little either wants him still in school.
