Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

We would have never have gotten Black Panther, Captain Marvel or Black Widow for starters. Ghost would have not been the villain of Ant Man and the Wasp, and if the character remained there would have been a male actor cast, with the Inhumans being shoehorned SOMEWHERE in there
Now that's false. We would have gotten Black Panther and Captain Marvel because Perlmutter extortioned Fiege into greenlightening his Attack on X-Men- I mean Inhumans with their movies being held hostage so he could fuck over the X-Men franchise even more.
Also would have lost RBJ before Civil War, which would have undoubtedly caused issues down the line, because Perlmutter is such a master of buisness and knowing what will be worth making or who is worth working with. I mean, it's not like Patty Jenkins would make a film for a rival better then the version of Dark World we got

Attachments are not the problem, Indifference is. Keelah se'laiBlack Panther would definitely have that British accent.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Initially Marvel thought of having T’Challa speak with a British accent but Chadwick Boseman turned that down, opting for a Xhosa accent instead, because he wanted to avoid the perception that European = smart and African = primitive.
Interestingly, Boseman did use a British accent when playing the Egyptian god of knowledge in Gods of Egypt, and that movie was terrible so I guess that’s where he soured to the idea.

Good, now I’m imagining an alternate timeline where Idris Elba and Chadwick Boseman swapped roles.
SKREEEEEEEONK!Yeah, even if Black Panther and Captain Marvel were still done there's no way they would've turned out like they did. Shang-Chi would probably be continuing in Development Hell too.
Ike and the Creative Committee would've no doubt ran the franchise into the ground, probably only limping its way to Infinity War instead of confidently marching towards it.

Not only would they be limping towards Infinity War, I guarantee the film would've been worse. Like I dunno, maybe pointless subplots thrown in, and Thanos would've lost at the end, only to go back in time and try to destroy the Earth earlier or something, thus making Endgame a pointless time-travel chase movie full of padding.
Also, I doubt the MCU would've made it to Phase 4. Or if it did, the Disney shows would've been butchered horribly.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."If Ike were still in charge, we definitely wouldn't be getting that Insomniac Wolverine game. Ultimate Alliance 3 probably either wouldn't have happened or have gone down similar to MVCI as well.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonThe ending of a Whedon Infinity War would be very different because he hates movies that end in cliffhangers.
I swear there was this video of What if Infinity War directed by Whedon.
One noticeable thing is that during Tony's one on one with Thanos every time he got hit it would always cut to the inside of his suit reacting and making a quip.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
x5 His insane mandates were the big reason for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite's infamous roster problems, like having no F4 or X-Men characters, everybody being forced to look and act like their movie selves, etc.

x7 Yeah, Perlmutter was in control of Marvel in general up until Feige got Disney to split the movie division from the rest due to him harming the production of Civil War irrc.
Also Perlmutter apparently had the villain of Iron Man 3 be Killian over the original female chouce because he said toys based on female characters don't sell. And then there were no promotional toys of Killian. Truly a galaxy-brained move

I don't wanna rag on the guy too much, but man it's good Disney got rid of him on the film side of things. Could you imagine what could've happened with Phases 3 and 4 if he was still around?
