Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

If Marvel still did DTV animated films like DC does, they could potentially do a good adaptation of Kraven's Last Hunt. It might not have the same impact, but DC's films show that they can adapt stories with a lot of backstory set in its own continuity and still turn out good (see Batman: Under the Red Hood).

Marvel had a DTV line around the time of the first Iron Man, but I think the last one was Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. I think they discontinued them partly out of financial failure and partly because they were Lionsgate co-productions and they were bought out by Disney around that point.

They also collabed with Madhouse in the early MCU days; see Marvel Anime.
I'd be curious if the success of Star Wars Visions leads to future Marvel Japanese animation collabs in the future? Marvel, especially Spider-Man and the X-Men, has always enjoyed a decent amount of Germans Love David Hasselhoff over there. Most of the current anime output is Shounen, but I imagine there's room for more Seinen fare. Particularly since the Russos and Michael B. Jordan have admitted to being big anime fans in the past, there's definitely room to explore this.

Well, as stated before, Marvel has no shortage of anime productions under their belt.Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers and Marvel Future Avengers comes to mind, and they were done while being owned by Disney. The only thing they haven't done is the anthology approach.
X3: Actually, they have done more sporadic DTVs after the Disney purchase, but naturally not with Lionsgate. Pretty much all of them, unlike those movies, were aimed towards the youths that like the Marvel Universe-era of shows on Disney XD.
Some include those 3DCG Iron Man and Hulk/Captain America: Heroes United films, Hulk: Where Monsters Dwell, and Frost Fight.

Well Studio Bones is going to have an easy time with a Steve Rogers short. Just draw a blue helmet and shield here and done.
If they can't pull a whatever-the-Alternate Company Equivalent-to-Justice League Dark-is-called-I-forgot in live action I would love to see that animated.

If you're looking for, like, a straight-up black ops Avengers team, there's Secret Avengers. There's also X-Force, which is typically black ops X-Men.
If you mean more like a supernatural horror team, there's the Midnight Sons: a loosely-affiliated group of supernatural mostly-antiheroes like Ghost Rider, Morbius, Dr. Strange, and Blade. I think they're getting a video game soon.
And then, of course, there's the Thunderbolts; but that's more the Marvel equivalent to Suicide Squad.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Huh if we do Secret Avengers then thats one reason to bring in Taskmaster since he was a member of said team.
Interesting about the Thunderbolts is that the later incarnations is very much Marvel doing a Suicide Squad. The original incarnation is more of a distinct execution of villain protagonist story.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yes, I was thinking of Midnight Sons. In the style of Castlevania (2017) or something.
Yeah, I think he's still pretty well regarded. It's just that he's been dead for years, so he doesn't get talked about much or put in appearances very often anymore.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.- Carol Danvers made the Avengers an idea.
- Nick Fury made the Avengers a reality.
- Phil Coulson made the Avengers happen.
- Tony Stark made the Avengers feasible.
- Steve Rogers made the Avengers succeed.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Not a fan of comic-Coulson cause of how they really forced in his movie popularity there.
I get being mad but the amount of shit that Deadpool got for killing him is downright unreasonable.
Its like how in the recent Taskmaster series, Maria Hill pinned her death on Taskmaster and this compelled Black Widow to hunt down the poor guy like a woman possessed.
Fucking Shield agents, not sure why so many heroes go to such bats for those mooks.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Looking it up, it appeared the 616 version of Coulson was killed by Deadpool during the lead-up to Secret Empire, went to Hell, and ended up working for Mephisto.
Goddamnit, it's like the comics are actively trying to drive away fans of the MCU...

shush!
