Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'd say, why limit yourself to one genre? I think it'd be cool if Dazzler was like a song genre chameleon whose powers change based on what she's listening to.
Plus, her listening to one type of music over and over would ultimately start to feel like a retreading of Peter Quill.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Well, she is a performer with some level of fame, so the idea of using her own material in the middle of a heated fight is pretty fun, compared to Peter, who basically never grew up.
... Anything based on her is gonna look like some kind of band movie or Jukebox Musical, isn't it?

Wake me up at your own risk.Well, there's two ways to go about it.
Dazzler doesn't really have to be disco specific. Dazzler's whole thing was being a hip, young heroine who played the hip music of the young kids of the day. The hip music of the kids at the time was disco, so that's what she played. It's something else now. So have her play something modern now, to keep her concept current.
It's like how Josie and the Pussycats went from being a psychaedelic R&B band to a rock band in modern adaptations: what the character would be about in the modern day is different. Make her a rap/hip hop based, or a K-pop singer, or a Japanese idol, or whatever.
But, if you want to keep her disco specific... to be honest, disco never really went away. Deader Than Disco is an old meme, but that doesn't mean it was ever really accurate. People still play disco all the time, a lot of disco classics are still mainstays with party music (heck, if you went ahead with the above and re-imagined her as hip hop based, she could probably still play disco here and there regardless), and it was one of the building blocks of subsequent pop music genres so you could even have her be a Michael Jackson-style singer instead and it would still resonate.

Marvel introducing a disco themed character in 1979 will never not be funny.
I can absolutely see her reinvented as a modern pop star though. That’s all she really was at the time, with an unintentionally retro aesthetic
Edit: it’s also great that she was introduced during the dark Phoenix saga, which went on to be one of the most iconic and tragic x-men stories, but also features an inexplicable side story of some of the team going to a Dazzler show

Yeah I'm good with not seeing Jackie Chan in the MCU, to be honest.
I'd actually want to see Chow Yun-fat in some role in the future though, preferably some cool Gun Fu based one. Maybe Orson Randall (the predecessor Iron Fist to Danny who uses chi-based Gun Fu).

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Yes. She was homeless for a month as a result of her estrangement from her family over it.
His relationship with his son was also kind of shit for a while due to cutting him off for years after his son's arrest for drug possession and use. They've apparently reconciled now though.
Jackie Chan's not Father of the Year is what I'm saying.

Disgusted, but not surprised...Y'know, this is like the third or fourth time I've unwittingly been a Bearer of Bad News for people on these threads concerning media creators being garbage people.
Dare I mention why it'd be best for Dazzler to not be too much like David Bowie too?

Disgusted, but not surprisedLet's just say it makes rewatching Labyrinth more uncomfortable.

Disgusted, but not surprised

Looks like Dazzler was originally created to emulate disco music. And well...I think that could actually work? Disco is popular again. Nowadays, people don't really care about the "disco sucks" bullshit from the end of the 70's.
If they wanted to update Dazzler then making her an electronic music performer could work.
