Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Maybe Marvel makes Dazzler an EDM rave girl whose powers come from epic beat drops.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I'd unironically love to see that, not gonna lie.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonGiven all the queer metaphors with the X-men, it wouldn’t even have to parallel COVID, but rather the AIDS epidemic.

That was in fact the metaphor the Legacy Virus stood for when it was created in the 90's. I went for COVID because A) its more "topical" B) I am absolutely sure Disney does not have the guts to do a "AI Ds affecting the gay community" story even in metaphor form, but a COVID-ish story sounds more plausible to me (as COVID was more "universal" rather than a "gay issue").
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Dazzler isn't really difficult to update. Though there may be a couple aesthetic changes, at the end of the day the ways that big, flashy pop stars present themselves hasn't really changed since the disco days / 80's, and it'd be easy for Dazzler to represent modern pop without changing all that much about her.
Hell, they could go the extra mile and make her K-Pop inspired, and you wouldn't see much difference.
I was down for Carly Rae Jepsen Dazzler (basically just 80s-ish synthpop), but K-Pop Dazzler is the most inspired modernization idea ever and now I want it.
Not that I can really see them using the character for more than an Easter Egg like Dark Phoenix did.

Mystique and Destiny were Rogue's unofficial foster parents after she ran away from her own bad home situation.
Mystique also cares a lot more for Rogue than for Nightcrawler and genuinely loves her as a daughter. This is not a good thing for Rogue since Mystique is just...the worst.
The FOX movies gave Mystique a ton of Adaptational Heroism.

Disgusted, but not surprised
Which only happened because Fox just so happened to luck into casting Jennifer Lawrence just before she got huge off The Hunger Games and retooled everything around her. A cashing-in that clearly ran out too soon given what happened in Dark Pheonix.
Overall, yeah, I actually think a Truer to the Text approach to everything X-Men would be the best approach, given that the closest the FoX-Men ever got was with the first two 20 years ago. So like don't just give me Mystique as Rogue's mother, give me Mystique with a send-up to her iconic look with the white dress/jumpsuit with the skull belt.
With comic-accurate Mystique you pretty much got a multi-movie character right there since she's pretty much only it for herself.
So she's the kind of character willing to work for anyone and do anything as long as it benefits her in some way.
Plus with how much the MCU gets ragged on for so many characters being defined by their daddy issues, Mystique brings in the mother of mommy issues by being the worst mom ever.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."So who wants to brainstorm ideas as to potential What If...? stories that season 2 might give us. I mean, from the airport fight in Civil War alone, I can think of:
"What If...Spider-Man Defected to Team Cap during the airport fight?" - In which the airport fight has a different outcome due to Steve, Sam and/or Bucky getting Peter to stop so they can explain to him what they're trying to do (stop Zemo from activating the Winter Soldiers), and also mention the various things Tony kept him in the dark about regarding the Accords (because Peter would balk at the idea of giving up his identity or having to wear an ankle monitor).
"What If...Cap had a Full Avengers Team with him in Siberia?" - Kinda tied in with the above. Everyone on Cap's team gets away with him and Bucky, so Scott, Sam, Clint and Wanda all go to Siberia too, either in the Quinjet or by overpowering Tony's allies and stealing another plane. What changes when Tony arrives and Zemo plays his video of the Starks' deaths?
"What If...Vision Shot Down Tony Stark?" - Self-explanatory. The nail is that Vision shoots down Tony instead of Rhodey.
From other movies, I can think of examples like:
"What If...Shuri and Wanda got the Mind Stone out in time?" - In which Wanda and Shuri were able to get the Mind Stone removed from Vision's head and destroyed by the time Thanos's forces arrived in Wakanda. How does the battle change? (Part of me thinks that this would end in Thanos losing, since without knowing where the Mind Stone was destroyed, he'd have no way to know where to "drop an anchor" so he can use the Time Stone to undo that stone's destruction)
"What If...Pietro Lived?" - We know Whedon actually filmed an alternate ending for Age of Ultron where Pietro survived, but how would his survival change the course of Civil War and Infinity War?
Okey Dokey!

Maybe get one of the kids from Stranger Things to play her? Or is that too obvious?
