Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, but you people know that he could be, ya know, lying?
Or just be telling a Jedi Truth and just because Deadpool is in the MCU the last minute, he told the truth.
Yeah, I seriously doubt they will add the X-Men to the MCU with a gag, and make a big change to Colossus and the others just so they fit to the MCU, when the easiest and most logical action is just to make the plot a stand along with the consequence of Deadpool alone ending in the MCU so they can start over again (which I believe is what the writers want considering Vanessa's death was going to be permanent), and leave the way open so they can introduce the X-Men the way they want withput having to deal with Colossus and Co.
Movie exec don’t lie when they say they will do something. They like when they say they’re not doing something.
This is because getting people to buy something (in this case a movie ticket) by leading them to believe they’re getting something they’re not is false advertising, whereas not telling people you’re going to do something is just protecting your NDA.
Plus there’s no real point to lying about that in the first place.
x7 Kevin Feige is basically the head honcho of Marvel, and is making sure everything runs smoothly while keeping both audiences and the people he works for and with happy. I don't think he has too much time to make cameos in his own works.
Gotta say though, based on how much both fans, actors, producers and directors speak of him, I'm pretty sure Feige is the closest possible thing you can get to a modern-day Honest Corporate Executive. Yeah, there's probably some skeletons in his closet we don't know about, but based on what I've read, he's trying his best to make sure everyone he works with is really enjoying their work.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Oh, in other news, Elizabeth Olsen fans are pretty mad that she didn't win an Emmy for Best Leading Actor or whatever for WandaVision. Although let's be honest, were we really expecting anything that to happen?
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I thought the Academy just hated superhero stuff in general. Unless it's dark, gritty and realistic enough like The Dark Knight or Joker.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I said this in the WV thread but the Outstanding Actress in a Limited Series category was the one I was looking forward to the most as everyone in it was very good and deserved to win. I was not even personally rooting for Olsen. So no, I don’t personally think it was an Award Snub
Black Panther got the closest; it was nominated for Best Picture.

Eh, it would've been nice to see Elizabeth or Anya Taylor-Joy win Best Actress, but in the grand scheme of things I don't really care. The Awards are, and always have been a joke to me.
Yeah, and they almost got a new type of Oscar before the internet flipped out

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."In my opinion, the real problem with the Academy is that they held every film out there to the exact same standards rather than accept genres other then dramas for what they are. That’s what created an environment where Oscar Bait was easy money while things like the Transformers Film Series or the Adam Sandler comedies became critical laughingstocks. Superhero movies just happened to be the one genre to openly reject the Oscar standards and embrace the Rule of Cool.
SKREEEEEEEONK!Oscar Bait films comparatively make very little money compared to big IP juggernauts because they aren't accessible or have niche audiences. The 2019 films that were nominated for Best Picture the following year
comparatively brought in around 1.65 billion dollars globally (Joker made up 1 billion of those). Endgame's worldwide gross was 2.8 billion.
As someone who took Villenueve and Scorsese's side in the "Are Marvel Movies Cinema (tm)" debate, it's 1000000% fine for things to be entertaining and not be high art. Marvel and its fans don't need E/G/O/T validation to have solid movies, but conversely, only a few entries really make an effort to be in the E/G/O/T conversation.

So for a dead pool 3 main villain who do you think they'd use.
I went over his Deadpool: Rogues Gallery.
Which uh tbh not the best for a main villain spot.. Black Swan probably has the most potential. That said some of these like Hit Monkey sound amazing and I want to see them as supporting Villans.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Victoria Alonso promoted
to Marvel Studio president of physical, post-production, VFX, and animation

I'm surprised Kevin Feige hasn't actually appeared in-person yet in any of the MCU films, as a cameo.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
