Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah Hellcat is one of the few non-Hand things from the Netflix MCU that I'd also like a do-over for. Don't even have to go too severe, just revert her back to S1 Patsy but with the Hellcat gimmick on top of it.
C'mon Marvel, gimme a girls night with She-Hulk, Jessica Jones, Hellcat, and Tigra. Let's goooooooooooo.
Sometimes I feel like an interesting plot for What If...? would be "What would happen in Siberia in Civil War if Steve had a full Avengers team with him?"
Let's say the airport fight went down differently and everyone on Steve's side got away. What would change for the final act of Civil War? I realize, emotionally, and cinematically, it had to be just Cap, Bucky, and Tony. But what if the other Avengers were there?
I'm sort of thinking of a scenario where that happens:
Instead of staying behind to get captured, Sam, Scott, Clint and Wanda overpower Tony and the others and steal another plane to go to Siberia. Tony gets Rhodey to the hospital, then follows them to Siberia by getting the Quinjet's flightlog. Once he gets there, he encounters Steve's team of Avengers. Everything plays out the same, but how does the fight play out when Zemo plays the video of Bucky killing Tony's parents? Is there even a fight? I feel like Wanda would probably rip Tony's suit apart with her magic or trap him in a vision where he imagines he's Bucky being tortured by the HYDRA scientists, or that Sam and/or Vision would try to reason with Tony.
Okey Dokey!I liked villainous Hellcat. It's rare media actually does a genuine Face–Heel Turn, instead of having the character just be Evil All Along.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I've read a few ficlets on AO3 where Peter ended up defecting to Team Cap during the airport fight because Steve (in one case) or Sam and Bucky (in another) stopped Peter long enough to give him the full details of what they were doing (stopping Zemo from activating the Winter Soldiers) and what the Accords entail (since Tony kept him in the dark about that stuff).
I think if Steve were to recruit Peter, he obviously wouldn't use the strongarm tactics Tony uses. He would also probably be very firm about keeping Peter on the sidelines due to his age. If everyone got away after the airport fight, I imagine Steve telling Peter to stay with the Quinjet while he, Clint, Scott, Sam and Wanda go into the bunker, even if Peter insists his webbing could stop or at least slow down the Winter Soldiers.
Okey Dokey!Heh watched this scene and damn Molten Man's character here would make a good villain for a movie.
Like he's a decent enough guy but he suffers from a terrible fatal flaw no friend or family can really help him from, a gambling addiction. As a result he winds up falling himself into a hole no one can dig him out from and the only result is just a huge fucking tragedy for everyone involved.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
It's a bit suspect ngl. The "lore" (as I call it) isn't just that Garfield was deepfaked but that the entire body was inserted and puppet-warped in Photoshop and the deepfake was applied on top of it which...doesn't entirely parse out in my head for an live-action video "leak". Plus comments are noting it's not that unfeasible to take the video, rip out the main elements, reconstruct them, and claim it's "debunked".
If it means anything to you r/marvelstudiosspoilers had it up under a "possibly fake" disclaimer for a bit and it got dunked on for a while before it eventually got removed.
So, I think some possible What If...? stories for season 2 could be ones like:
- What if everyone on Team Cap got away after the airport fight?
- What if Tony got arrested for his Accords violations?
- What if Shuri got the Mind Stone out of Vision's forehead in time?
- What if the original Avengers were dusted and alternate members (Sam, Bucky, Wanda, Quill, Drax) had to do the Time Heist?
We've now gotten to the point of fan obsession over a leak where the actor says the leak is fake and the person who made up the fake leak makes a video admitting to it and showing how they made the fake leak, and people are STILL clinging to it as real.
This is delusional.

Wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that at least some of this stuff is being stoked by Marvel behind the scenes to get people more excited about the movie.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my Tumblr— Zero Punctuation
If you want a successful movie, don't make it for the "fans". Make it for John and Joan Q. Public. Obviously there are some films that can do both but ultimately the almighty dollar rules all.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."something something ~subverting fan expectations~
Personally I'm going to be annoyed if it's Real After All, Marvel goes "teehee, you caught us ;)" and the fannish behavior is vindicated. I miss the days when we could just... you know... listen to actors when they say they're not in things. Right now it's just this weird mix of baiting and entitlement.

Part of me thinks they should just start going "no comment" on everything. It may make press interviews a bit boring, but the current situation is absurd.
Also why I hope that if the rumours are in some way true, there's at least some unexpected twist to it so people can't say they were completely right.

If anyone from the Netflix shows is coming to the MCU, I’d like it to be Jessica Jones since she and Kate Bishop had a touching mentor relationship in the comics.
But reboot Hellcat so she’s She-Hulk’s best friend and not a villain.
