Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, until the Children's Crusade and her appearance in the MCU helped rescue her from the scrappy heap, Marvel frequently flanderized her into a pre-eminent example of a Hysterical Woman.
Oh man, glad you haven't heard of the Ultimate Marvel version then.
Trust me, don't look it up.
When I thought of Scarlet Witch pre MCU, I always thought of the X-Men Evolution version.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Yeah it was really dumb. Wanda’s sons were erased from her memory, then she randomly got reminded of them and snapped.
The Young Avengers as a whole got started because the Avengers were on a break after Wanda’s rampage (“disassembled”). Clint and Scott were dead. Then bunch of plucky kids patterned themselves after the original guys. Kate went by Hawkingbird for a bit because she picked up Hawkeye’s bow and Mockingbird’s staves when they robbed the mansion.
On that note, I liked Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi and always thought it would be great to have her reprise in Hawkeye.

I will say that I miss the “Magneto’s kids” dynamic, as for all the suckiness of the 00’s writing that was always one of the more interesting aspects and the MCU forced it out for synergy or whatever. Her recent solo is pretty interesting though and has great art.
Granted they may be bringing back the familial relation of the Maximoff Twins to Mags.
Wanda recently got murdered during a Krakoan ball and Magneto is the only suspect leading to the currently ongoing Trail of Magneto comic.
And Wanda herself may not be fully dead leading to theories that it will end with Wanda being resurrected by the Krakoan resurrection chambers revealing she really is a Mutant again.
Sweetly enough before this during Sword they had actually reconciled again, with Mags stating that regardless of whether their related by blood he will always see her as his daughter.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Honestly Wanda had some good stuff prior to the MCU including the aforementioned X-Men Evolutions adaptations. I liked her well enough prior to the whole Mephisto babies fiasco. It's just that that stint led to a particularly nasty Dork Age for her which happened to be set immediately prior to her adaptation in a manner similar to Tony's, and one with a nasty tinge of sexism to boot (this whole idea that women are baby-crazy and prone to hysterics, as opposed to the more measured grief and subsequent composure she displayed in Children's Crusade).
If they want to reconcile the whole Maximoff re-retcon thing I think it'd just be best if they had it so Magda and Django were related, or something like that.

Wiccan and Speed bringing the Young Avengers on a quest to find their spiritual mom.

My honest impression was that “seeking out the magic” got overshadowed by sparkly Doctor Doom and all the AVX hostility, so folks were like “OK, she’s back, here’s plot”.

I think the fact that he clearly still has his family should help pull it away from him going 100% Hawkguy. A major part of Fraction's Hawkeye being an absolute mess is him being a complete loner, to the point where a common fan theory for the show was that Hawkeye was going to be brutally divorced, which doesn't look to be the case here.

She went fucking crazy and killed a bunch of people.
Thats where he infamous reputation really got started.
