Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Hey, random question in regards to Loki. Do we know if this
Miss Minutes Twitter account is officially affiliated with Marvel Studios?

Agreed. I won't say anything more to avoid spoilers, but Shang Chi have proven to me that some characters can work with the right scripts and effort.
This is actually why I've flipped my position and want Finn Jones to come back as Iron Fist. Give him a shot at doing the character right.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Basically, most of what everyone has said. But also, to me, them dunking on Danny during the Defenders, and then even taking the Iron Fist from him. At first I liked that, but seeing the logic others have given that taking it away from him (when he really did earn it, even if he made some bad calls afterwards) just fed into the hatred and showed they had no faith in him.
So this time, let Jones play the character right. I think he could if given the chance, plus he took so much shit from so many people that I kinda want to see him come back, do better, and shut them all up (though that last part is kinda impossible).
One Strip! One Strip!Just finished episode 5, the one where Frank gets captured. I'll make up a summary of my feelings and reactions later in the morning since it's ten minutes to one in the morning and M84 is off to the side, thumping a club in his hand rather threateningly.
But...I'll give you my honest reactions to key points in episode 5:
OH GOD, A DRILL IN THE FOOT, I DID NOT NEED THAT THIS LATE IN THE NIGHT
(Later, when Elektra shows up)
Elektra? Wait, you're now here. If you're here, that means...
OH GOD, THE HAND IS COMING, I DID NOT NEED THAT THIS LATE IN THE NIGHT
...Guess I'll better clock in.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I wouldn't worry too much. For all of Daredevil Season 2's writing flaws, it's at least not boring to watch. The fights are still fun and there's really good moments scattered around. Just don't expect compelling villains, or much connective tissue between the Hand plot and the Punisher plot.
Daredevil Season 2 is strange because to me, it has simultaneously some of the highest highs of the entire Netflix saga and also some of the lowest lows. It's really inconsistent in quality rather than simply being good or bad.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! What I find weird about the Hand is how they didn’t bring in characters to actually spice them up.
Like the Hand is actually that basic and dull within the comics but adaptations can easily circumvent this by just bringing in unrelated colorful characters and connecting them. But they didn’t, they only brought in Bakuto and had the Hand top 5 just be a bunch of canon foreigners.
Like shit they couldn’t even bring in that Ikari guy whose basically Daredevil but he can see.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, the mishandling (heh) of the Hand is bizarre. Nobu Yoshioka is just a lieutenant instead of the grandmaster? Bakuto is the only leader loosely based on an actual comic book character? Everybody else is nameless mooks or OCs?
Also, Madame Gao being a Hand leader is a painfully obvious revision to the script compared to her prior appearances in Daredevil.

I have to agree. Season 2 has so much stuff going on that it really feels unfocused.
For instance, Elektra has some good moments, but she also makes me not really like season 2 Matt. Elektra is supposed to be toxic, but there's this line of logic that is broken regarding her interactions with Matt that goes both ways and takes away from both characters. Matt seems way too invested into Elektra over the court stuff and it makes a lot of the drama in the back half of the season feel contrived, whether it's with Matt and Elektra, or Matt's interactions with Karen and Foggy.
Another example is that the first four episodes, the ones with just the Punisher arc, are great. But the Punisher storyline ran out of steam before the end of the season and was clearly acting like a backdoor pilot for his solo show (while the Hand story was acting as a backdoor pilot for The Defenders). It would've probably improved the pacing on The Punisher season 1 if he disappeared from Daredevil season 2 after he got out of jail and everything from there to the end of DDS2 was saved for The Punisher.
It even shows in the fight scenes. I can recall specific fight scenes in season 1 (Matt vs. Rance, the hallway fight, both of Matt's fights with Fisk) and season 3 (the prison fight, all three of Matt's fights with Dex), but with season 2, it feels like they throw nonstop action at you so you don't check out.
The quality dropoff in Daredevil season 2, in my book, is worse than the quality dropoff in Luke Cage season 1 with the transition from Cottonmouth to Diamondback. I'm more tolerating of Diamondback than the Hand mostly because Diamondback fits in with the campier tone of Luke Cage, whereas ninjas don't belong on the same show as Wilson Fisk, Dex, and Ray Nadeem.
- Also, Madame Gao being a Hand leader is a painfully obvious revision to the script compared to her prior appearances in Daredevil.
It's definitely obvious that it's a retcon because in retrospect, it means two Hand members were working with Fisk without realizing the other was Hand too.

Okey Dokey! The Netflix MCU's treatment of the Hand is the biggest reason I want something of a Soft Reboot to it. Pulling in that canon as-is means pulling all of the garbage surrounding the Hand and by extension Iron Fist, including a poor telling of the death and rebirth of Elektra. No thank you, I'd like a do-over please.

Seriously, you put in a disclaimer about sexualizing female characters right before asking that question. What's the matter with you?
Single Issues Wonks can't help not wonk about subject unfortunely
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverWell, the best ass in the MCU is undoubtedly Steve Rogers'. I think we can all agree on that. Meanwhile, Tony is the biggest ass, with Hank Pym pulling a close second.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I’d think it was Scott who had the biggest ass while not being the biggest ass
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNah that's Tom Holland.
Like man that thing is impressive

I watched the pilot of Inhumans.
My conclusion was that it's a heart-wrenching, Shakespearean tragedy about Anson Mount trying to portray the best Black Bolt possible on the worst show ever made.
