Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Tony and Bruce: (still seething over Shuri criticizing their Vision design) “It’s so sad that Shuri was Snapped and can’t help with our time machine.”
Shuri: “I’m still here!”
Tony and Bruce: “We will avenge the fallen.”
Uhhh Bruce told him later and Tony still felt insulted.

Now thanks to Carol, he's the second place monster.
I admit, I had doubts if she was really stronger than him. She definitely had some impressive feats, what with wiping out that Kree space fleet, and the way she handled Thanos.
But I always wondered about it. Thor single handedly turned around the battle of Wakanda, and when we next see him in Endgame, he's massively out of shape, so I questioned if he hadn't lost a step, even with both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker combined.
But I also recall seeing an interview in either this thread or the Endgame thread where it's said that Thor is stronger than he's ever been as well.
Whatever the case, whether he was in top form or not is irrelevant: Carol is powered by an Infinity Stone, and those are straight up the strongest things in existence. The fact that the ones who gave Thanos the hardest time were Carol and Wanda (who's power was awakened by an infinity stone) lends credence to that.

But stormbreaker could stand up to the collective might of all the infinity stones at once. Of course I could give counter evidence to that if I so wanted and counter evidence to that etc., so I'm reminded of what Stan Lee said: "the person who'd win a fight is the person that the scriptwriter wants to win."
Well, Thor did come out 10 years ago.
... Thor came out ten years ago... Oh god...
Oh no, I highly doubt they were planning that far in advanced. I don't even think they had an idea of what to do with Thor after the first Avengers movie. I recall hearing that Loki wasn't planned to have that large a role in the first drafts of The Dark World, but was added because of how popular he was. It's just that the Hela retcon is something that slips in rather snugly with the themes of the first two films.

And those are really the best kind of retcons.
Rather than detracting from things, they add to them.
One Strip! One Strip!
Oh no, I fell for that during WandaVision. Ain’t falling for that again.
@Diana 1969 That's the only thing the boss himself regrets for.
@dmcreif Whenever you have doubt of how well planned the MCU actually is, just remember this clip:
I wonder if it would be possible to put the Scourge in the MCU. I mean, the idea of a vigilante randomly killing villains CAN be done, but the whole point was that most of the ones he was killing were d-listers like Blue Streak and Mirage. With the MCU (and live-action adaptations in general), there's no room for minor villains (or if there are, they're usually killed off or put in jail), so a lot of the whole meta-element of the storyline is gone, and you likely just have Scourge killing muggers and bank robbers, basically making him The Punisher.

By this point I'm semi-sure Shuri is taking up the mantle.
