Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It's a pity the tentacle design of Ock seems to have changed from his Raimi days (which they looked more copper-based and had a more obviously practical effects basis rather than pure CGI) but still THE DOCTOR IS IN, FELLAS. THE EIGHT-LIMBED GOAT.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Ohoho! This is a neat concept, although having Strange's spell unlock the multiverse in this story is a little weird considering that we already have Loki setting it up. I also really like the callbacks to Doctor Strange in the visuals. He's definitely the Sorcerer Supreme now, not just a novice wizard playing around with magic.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"![]()
I think they're alleviating that by not necessarily having what is happening here be the multiverse, specifically. Strange namedrops it in terms of the kinds of magic he's using, but the rest of the exposition we get seems to imply that what's happening here is that they changed the past (something that, admittedly, they still wouldn't be allowed to do with the TVA still around) which created these myriad new villains in addition to all sorts of other changes to Peter's life. Flashpoint-esque, essentially. They didn't delve into the multiverse so much as, effectively, transform their timeline into another one.

I'll admit that I never made it to the One More Day arc in the comics, but it seems to have been extremely controversial. I wonder if the writers know what they're in for.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Dafoe was the perfect actor for Norman Osborn, but for Green Goblin’s look I hope that this time we get the classic green elf in a purple outfit look instead of the Power Ranger armor again.
The prosthetics test they did for the original Raimi film looked pretty great.

What happened there was, Peter made a deal with Mephisto where he gave up his marriage to Mary Jane in exchange for Mephisto saving Aunt May's life.
That's an oversimplification of events, but it's the Cliff Notes.
Okey Dokey!Random thought. If the Doc Oc we see is literally the Spider-Man 2 Doc Oc...then there is a chance he might actually be a good guy in the film given that Spider-Man 2 ended with him realizing he screwed up and cleaning up his own mess with a Heroic Sacrifice.

As long as Strange is more of a side character in Peter's story, I'm okay with it. I've been hoping for us to get a Strange / Spidey film, what with the team-up's historical signif
If what it looks like is happening is happening, this does stand to be more of a Spider-Man piece than Dr. Strange 1.5 (which is something I as well was worried about). The story we're seeing in the trailer, at the very least, seems very focused on Peter's world and how it's changed, specifically. It's a Bad Present story, it looks like. Strange feels more like catalyst for Peter's story here than Peter feels like a vehicle to Strange's.

I agree with you on one hand, but we also have 5 movies that were just about Spiderman, and with the series now tossing in the multiverse, the events of those movies are now vaguely in canon. Plus, the whole point of the MCU Peter is that he's now a part of this bigger world.
Not saying I don't kinda agree with you, but since they are now kinda retconning in the villains from the old movies, you could say that Peter has had his solo adventures already in universe via the other movies.
That being said:
<points at Strange and Peter> YOU BOTH FUCKED UP! WHY ARE YOU SO DAMNED STUPID!?

One Strip! One Strip! After sinking the fusion core, Doc Ock quit supervillainy and became a multi-armed Broadway actor.

If Strange keeps doing crazy shit like this it'll make Mordo's villainy all the more justified whenever he shows up again.

I mean what teenager calls an adult by their first name really?
That implies equality which they are not age-wise.
