Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Re T’Challa talking down Thanos
It makes sense. T’Challa’s whole space thing is explicitly doing a Robin Hood. Relocating resources so they can do more good
Thanos’ whole thing or the claimed justification of the whole thing is the lack of resources.
T’Challa probably convinced him that it wasn’t the quantity so much as the distribution. Or at least to give it a try.

I don't think it's going to go as far as that. But I could see it being a way to quickly bring a multiversal Sinister Six into the Spider-Man corner of the MCU in one fell swoop instead of doing more gradual build up.
That's about what I think. It does rely on this Thanos being more reasonable/less stubborn and prideful than Mainline Thanos but it's a What If so that does fall within plausibility. Main Thanos would probably not be convinced as that would mean admitting he was wrong but this is a different Thanos.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Meanwhile
some people who saw the leaked proto-trailer are saying that Strange would not have tampered with something he does not understand and is out of character, or is deliberately trying to teach Peter a lesson. I feel that future discussions will be lit.
I think it is totally fine. Reckless driving, reckless spellcasting, it adds up.
Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous.Assuming this is true, between Far From Home having Tony decide Peter should inherit a glasses-operated Kill Sat and Stephen fucking up a really dangerous spell while trying to help erase people's memories, I'm getting a little sick of the MCU Spider-Man films making the rest of the MCU's characters act like total irresponsible idiots just to facilitate the plot.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I mean…with Tony that’s kind of his thing and he’s shown to have done it before. Including picking a fight with a terrorist on TV. Or making Ultron, or he’ll his brilliant idea of Iron Man suits across the globe.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.
x4 See, see, it is already upon us!
Where is Iron Man to blame for everything when you need him :-) Seriously though, why any time a hero messes things up, people get angry? Why are we so intolerant of the mistakes of others? *thinking*
They say that a driver is most likely to get into a car accident in the second or third year of driving, when they alreadly have enough confidence, but still not enough experience. I suspect the same is true for using magic.

Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. While the country eagerly awaits the Spider-Man Crisis on Infinite Webs Giant All Out Monsters Attack trailer, the reviews for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are pouring in and the verdict appears to be "Meh."
Hollywood Reporter calls it "Flawed but fun"
.
Some more positive reviews are in there such a 4/5 from Empire Magazine
.
None of the reviews are outright bad. At worst it’s called flawed.
It was 86 when I saw it this morning. That's actually a good sign. It's very rare in my experience that the score jumps at that much. I'm willing to bet it'll end at somewhere in the high 80s.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midThat Empire review mentioned the fantasy realm of the hidden magical city of Ta Lo and trailers have revealed at least one dragon is involved somehow.
Are they compositing Shang with Iron Fist or is this established lore? I'm not really up to date with the comics version of Shang.

To note it was being widely rumored that Sony was going to drop the trailer during their CinemaCon panel tonight, so this whole leak would effectively confirm that I think. Hopefully still the case, lol.
Just looking at leak details because I didn't get a chance to see it the idea of the MCU doing an adaptation of One More Day and/or One Moment in Time is fucking bonkers, and merging it with a live-action take on Spider-Verse is even more so. The whole point of OMD was to pull a giant Cosmic Retcon within the prime Marvel timeline (and the point of OMIT to explain said retcon within the new timeline), so I now have to wonder if that is the goal: to use multiverse shenanigans to fundamentally rewrite Spidey's place in the "Sacred Timeline", maybe to include pre-existing versions of these previous characters, maybe even to retroactively canonize the SUMC into the MCU.
