Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Hmmm. As much as I like what those alleged images are telling me, it stretches my head to see William Defoe. I freaking loved his Goblin, but surely there's no way you can include him without retconning Spider-Man 3 out of existence, given that there's an entire plot point over his lethal injuries being definatly lethal and from his own glider. Makes me worried. Also this film still has me worried it's going to be of way too big a scope. Super glad to see those three actors back though
People were already speculating it would drop this coming week prior to the leak, so maaaaybe?
Anyway this is one way to avoid rehashing characters that already have an on cream history, just grab the history and continue it. I like the idea of Spidey having to go toe to toe against a Doc Ock who has twenty years experience on him. Regardless I'm hoping that if Tobey and Andrew are in this film, they are smaller roles and the focus is still on our Peter. Save the Sinister Six for the fourth film too, when everyone has established beef with our Peter.
The true identity of the leaker revealed
(not really)
A more serious question: If Peter’s problem with Strange’s spell is that it will erase everyone’s memory of his true identity including Aunt May, Ned, and MJ, couldn’t he just tell them again?
Well the fact that Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn will likely return for Spider-Man: No Way Home means that Tobey Maguire is going to appear in the film alongside Andrew Garfield for a live-action adaptation of Spider-Verse.
Also, it appears that Doctor Strange and Spider-Man will cause a multiversal crisis that will lead to Secret Wars (specifically the 1983 and the 2015 versions).

And on that note I've seen some really disgusting takes like "Oh no, these people want status quo! Better have good boy CIA to help!"

So, we went from "Wanda is going to crack open the Multiverse in WandaVision" to "Loki will crack open the Multiverse in his show" to "Peter Parker is a dumbass and messed with a mind wiping Doctor Strange spell that somehow leads to other dimension villains showing up". Apparently.
We need to go deeper.
