Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm curious if they might introduce Riri by making her a Composite Character with Queen Divine Justice somehow.
That character was the estranged daughter of the assassinated Jabari chieftain (not M'Baku) who was then escorted to the US to protect her from Bast fundamentalists, then targeted by Nakia for being a Dora Milaje candidate and thus possible romantic rival. But her history could be adapted so that she's another child of a War Dog who Went Native overseas, much like Killmonger.
Alternately she's just a science genius who is working in a limited capacity with the Wakandans in order to share their knowledge with the rest of the world at a safe pace.
RE: Ironheart in BP2:
Well. Can't exactly say I saw it coming.
I think I'm on the same boat. It'll probably be done well, but it really feels like there's a lot of moving pieces going on. Probably doesn't help that I'm still not completely over Chadwick being gone...
If I had to make a educated guess about Riri's role: the first Black Panther famously ends with T'challa founding Wakandan outreach programs in the US. I'm going to guess Riri Williams is the most noticeable product of these outreach programs, a genius who finally got a chance to study with the big leagues with this Wakandan scholarship and a demonstration of this pan-african solidarity T'challa was proposing at the end of the first film. This would allow her to be worked into the film fairly easily (with the characters checking up on what became of T'challa's efforts and her being the focal point of it).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."...Crazy idea.
In MCU, Riri will be successor of Black Panther by combining Iron Man(the technology) and Black Panther(Heart-Shaped Herb+BB-suit technology), which is why she's called "Ironheart".
...like I said, crazy idea.
I assure you, I'm perfectly trustable personEh, not really. I just thought it looked like one of those giant scuba diving things from Bioshock combined with the Sentinels from X-Men: Days of Future Past, but as giant godlike beings I guess.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."In regards to future directors, I think Jordan Vogt-Roberts would be a solid choice to do an MCU movie like say Eternals or Captain America 4. The guy knows how to write comedy and drama as seen with You're the Worst and The Kings of Summer, not to mention that he has worked with MCU actors before on Kong: Skull Island.

I feel like there's a decent chance Chad Stahelski (from the JW films) does a superhero film in the future. David Leitch (who co-directed the first JW with him) did Deadpool 2 and Stahelski himself was a action coordinator in Birds of Prey, so I feel like it's a matter of time until he gets shanghaied into directing either a MCU movie or a DCEU one.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Galactus and the Celestials were both drawn by Jack Kirby, and he loved him some powerful space dudes with weird helmets. So, I'm not surprised some people see a connection there.
At the very least, we can be sure Galactus won't be a goddamn cloud when he finally appears in the MCU.
I think it's pretty great that the most dangerous being in all of the multiverse is a smart regular human. The fact that the most powerful human to ever live is a black guy is pretty great, too, just the biggest middle finger concievable to racists.

If people are already quaking at the sight and implied power of the Celestials then Galactus should have them shitting in their boots. The Celestials are one of if not the most powerful race in the comics universe. Galactus predates the universe.
I saw a meme that was like "The most powerful MCU organization is a black-owned business" and I died.

In the comics Galactus has thrown down with Celestials. He took on four of them and had the upper hand...until they merged together.
Basically, Galactus is more powerful than any one Celestial. But there's a whole bunch of Celestials.
And keep in mind these were regular Celestials. We aren't talking about Exitar the Exterminator here.
The Celestials are powerful enough that they unfortunately suffer The Worf Effect (much like Galactus amusingly enough) in the comics to hype up the threat level of a new cosmic villain like the Beyonders or Knull.

Disgusted, but not surprised

Re: Black Panther and Riri Williams:
On Discord, I was reminded that Wakanda Forever has a filming site
planned at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Coincidentally, this happens to be Riri's college as well in the comics.
