Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Well, to be fair, he first had the powers stolen by someone else (and his leg broken).
In the process of training to get it back, he realized Colleen might be a better choice.
They did end it with him going off on a journey with his not quite brother to learn more about other Immortal weapons (and getting his hands on some chi infused revolvers) opening up the possibility that he might get the powers back in a different way, letting both of them being Immortal Weapons.
But yeah. That version of Danny completely shit the pot. Nothing would have saved him.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm not sure that power is his to give like that. Like its not a vague worthiness shit like with Mjolnir, its basically kill the dragon with your bare hands, you get the powers.
Its not even necessarily about test of character, there are lot of different types of Iron Fists with its long history. Just because Danny feels Colleen's worthy, doesn't make her worthy.
Danny did kill the dragon. It doesn't matter his self-esteem problems, he is inherently deserving of the power than anyone who hasn't killed the dragon.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."If she killed him than by the commutative property of killing, she’d be worthy of it
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSpeaking of What If, we have a new timeline update
from Disney+. The animated series is sandwiched between Loki and WandaVision.
I'm not entirely sure what that means since it's playing with alternate universes. Maybe it's a Stealth Sequel to Loki given the disintegration of the TVA, but that remains to be seen.
Finn Jones wasn't a particularly great actor, but he did grow on me as Danny Rand so I'll miss him a little if/when they recast the role.
Damnit, I wanted to see what happens in season 3. You can't just show us Danny with chi-powered guns touring Asia and asking about an Orson Randall and then not follow up on that, Netflix!
Danny giving up the Iron Fist to Colleen did feel like a flimsy excuse in-universe to respond to out-of-universe backlash, but come on. Chi-powered guns. Plus he was probably gonna regain a proper Iron Fist for himself had the show continued.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Honestly, Shang-Chi is looking more and more like it would make an Iron Fist reboot redundant, since it's leaning into Danny's "mystical kung-fu master" niche rather than Shang's actual "grounded and Badass Normal kung-fu master" niche.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI could easily see Iron Fist either becoming a character in a Shang Chi sequel, or getting a "take two" Disney+ show just to really stick it to the Netflix version, all dependent on how Shang-Chi does, which is a massive question mark right now (the fights filled with tons of quick cuts and good old Murican shaky cam aren't helping).

Okay that right there, thats why the character is inoperable.
Danny shouldn't have to give up shit, he should already be a good Iron Fist. He shouldn't have to give up his fucking powers to anyone, he earned those powers by killing the dragon. Not Colleen, not anyone else, him at least I'm assuming they kept that part of his backstory.
The fact due to the characters immense negative reception, you write in him giving up his powers to someone else is proof of just how much the character got fucked.
Yeah I don't care how much he supposedly improved. Light it up, burn the whole thing to the ground, and then do it over again with a character who is actually good from the start.
