Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

She goes on for like a minute hinting that she had something to do with their deaths, it was extremely heavy-handed, I don't know how you forgot about that.
And then she says "But I didn't have anything to do with it. Or did I? No, I didn't. Or did I?! Probably not. But maybe I did!"

I feel like I was too distracted by Sam as Captain America and Sharon Carter as the Power Broker to properly remember that scene in full. I also only watched each episode in the series once since I was studying for college finals at the time.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I thought the implication of that scene was Zemo and his butler did it of their own accord, but Contessa facilitated their communication and acted as the bridge between them (particularly considering Zemo was in a maximum security prison in the middle of nowhere).
But hey, considering the shambolic disaster that last episode was, you could tell me the writers wanted the culprit to be John Cena and I would believe you.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I can’t believe John Cena was behind it all all along
Even behind Thanos
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHey, you guys remember when Deadpool and Korg reacted to the Free Guy trailer?
Ever wanted to know how that happened?
Ryan spills the beans!
Bullet Points:
- When Disney bought Fox, Ryan wasn't really sure what was going to happen, but Disney has been extremely supportive of Free Guy.
- One idea Ryan had for a short was for Deadpool to interview the hunter who shot Bambi’s mother. It looks like Deadpool will kill the hunter...but it turns out DP is a major fan and wants to know how he can be as hated as the hunter is in the Disney universe. Unsurprisingly, Disney said "no way, Jose" to that and axed it.
- Eventually, Ryan and his partner at Maximum Effort, George Dewey, came up with a short where Deadpool and Korg react to the Free Guy trailer. Disney gave it the green light, which surprised Ryan because animating Korg is not some cheap feat. But what really helped was that it was met at "an intersection of a lot of mutual interests". Plus, Taika was super gung-ho about the idea, so the process was very fast. Not long after, the video came out, cue Internet being broke.

After reading the second option, I just hope Deadpool won't be forced to put a lid on too many Take Thats towards the Mouse. I don't think it should go overboard, but I also think it would suck if Disney nixed any risque jokes about their brand.
If the Free Guy react video is a solid barometer on what Disney will let Reynolds get away with then we're probably fine. I took the second point less as the Mouse curbing criticism and more Disney capping how much he can dig into Black Comedy Gallows Humor especially with Disney material. The video has Deadpool explicitly call Korg a fuckface and implicitly rib him for being too corporate-nice; clearly Iger and Feige are fine but here's hoping Chapek isn't that precious.
Plus, MCU Zemo probably wouldn't even go along with the idea of pretending to be a hero for even a second.
There was an episode of the 1980s Ninja Turtles cartoon that even touched on this. the Turtles end up in an alternate timeline where Shredder has taken over the world and is a nervous wreck due to how stressful running an entire planet is.
Falcon and Winter Soldier does show that Zemo is willing to play along to a degree if it serves his goals.
Still, I’d agree that I’m not sure if he would be the Big Bad of such a plot any more.

Brad Allan, the main stunt coordinator for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings passed away at 48.
R.I.P.
Guy was a living legend, direct disciple of Jackie Chan who made his bones in HK cinema alongside Chan. Who Am I?, Gorgeous, Rush Hour films, Shanghai Noon films all had him, and solo he was one of the primary coordinators and action designers for both Kingsman films, Pacific Rim, Hellboy 2, the first Kick-Ass and Scott Pilgrim. Big loss to the action film industry.
Hope Shang-Chi proves a worthy final swan song for him (it does serve as a bittersweet Bookends of sort to his career, considering he made big going to Hong Kong and now his last work will be a US-made HK homage).

"All you Fascists bound to lose."For context of the rest of the thread, Allan was a protege of Jackie Chan and is widely regarded as the bridge for getting Hong Kong stunt choreography into Hollywood productions: besides Chan's American filmography he was also the stunt director for Hellboy II, Scott Pilgrim, Kick-Ass, and Kingsman among many others.
Marvel snagging Allan was largely overshadowed by them also snagging cinematographer Bill Pope (aka the guy who did The Matrix) which is in retrospect a massive shame. My hype for Shang-Chi's fight scenes are significantly higher and it's really unfortunate that he died so young, both for the MCU and for all the other directors he worked with. RIP.

, not that I mind because he deserves the recognition.

Maybe my memory's fuzzy, but I do seem to recall Val talking about Zemo and the Flag-Smasher's deaths, and I thought the implication was that they briefly worked together to take out the Flag-Smashers via Zemo's butler since they were a mutual foe.
