Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Iron Man: Armored Adventures did Lazer great. Sympathetic where how rotten and awful his existence is is highlighted.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."He's basically your typical "energy being" powered character, similarly to Electro or Monica Rambeau. Initially he used tech to shoot lasers out of his hands, but then later gained the ability to turn into pure energy and become a laser (and as such, with the occasional interesting secondary power should a writer want to have fun with physics) which is the concept he's had ever since.
Like most of Iron Man's villains he's somewhat light on plot (except in the Armored Adventures show, which turned him into an Anti-Villain and gave him a Heel–Face Turn) and is more or less just a superthug who can be slotted into any story if they need a consequence free villain to show up and want to steal a bunch of jewels or be an Elite Mook or be on some new villain team or whatever, but powers wise he's cool enough that it'd definitely be dope if he made the jump.

First boss of the old Captain America and the Avengers arcade game along with Klaw too.
Living Laser's kind of a loser though. His whole villain career started because he got dumped and couldn't take rejection in a mature fashion. Instead, he figured he ought to become a supervillain to impress ladies.
He's kind of like Graviton, another loser with incredible superpowers (as the name suggests, he's a Gravity Master) whose main motivation seems to be getting laid.

Disgusted, but not surprised
That might make him a good villain for Kamala just to give her a Starter Villain to deal with.

At the end of the day, you're probably not going to be using an Iron Man villain because they have the most amazing backstory or personality. You're going to be using them because they have an interesting power or ability concept, and if it's an adaptation you're most likely just going to rewrite their backstory anyway (or outright minimize it) to make it more impressive.

Granted, Living Laser gave up on getting laid after becoming an Energy Being (he doesn't exactly have the equipment for it anymore) and is more into wrecking general havoc.
He doesn't really have motivations beyond that, which is in large part why he's a relative small-time villain despite his considerable power.
Disgusted, but not surprised
A sociopath with a taste for destruction feels like an ideal intro villain.
Then again I’m completely unfamiliar with Kamala’s rouges gallery, so you could throw in Count Nefaria as the Big Bad and I wouldn’t object so long as he was written well.

To be fair she doesn't much of a rogues gallery anyway.
Her most well known antagonists are Cocktail Edison/Inventor and Becky St. Jude/Lockdown whose essentially a fascist.
The latter is the closest thing she has to a nemesis.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

Iron Man has always populated his rogues galleries with stereotypical "enemies of America" concepts, yeah, and I've always seen the Even going up to Iron Man 1, which trades in Communist villain stereotypes for Middle Eastern villain stereotypes.
On an unrelated note, after coming across the Stratosfire storyline way back when, I've really wanted to see that in the MCU, and I'd love to see it in Armor Wars. The Sunturion arc in general would work very well (the essential concept of the two character is that the Roxxon Corporation continually tried to create their own supersoldier that was kind of a mix between Wonder Man and Iron Man, with Sunturion almost immediately turning good, and Stratosfire later also turning against them but being obsessed enough with being a hero that she becomes He Who Fights Monsters - leading to a team-up with Iron Man to stop her) if composited into the Armor Wars storyline.
