Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

And today is the day only 35 years ago was the first Marvel movie released.

Howard the Duck
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."interestingly, Lea Thompson seems to have no ill will about Howard, making an appearance in the comic and pitching a remake for the MCU.

I watched Howard the Duck for a date night a couple months back. Ya know what? It's not that bad!
My various fanfics. In the comics the Eye of Agamotto's got a greater variety of mystical powers, though it generally grants its wielder heightened vision. Basically, it allows its wielder to see through disguises, peer into another's soul, and show the recent past, along with other White Magic.
The MCU Eye of Agamotto is arguably more powerful due to its Time Master abilities, but it's also more specialized since that's all it can do.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt's just annoying because they are very much two separate things.
It would be like if Mjolnir was also Captain America's shield.
My various fanfics.Or if Mjolnir's power source was also an Infinity Stone.
Which reminds me....In the comics Thor has a vision of his death when he sees Thanos wielding Mjolnir with all six Infinity Gems set in it.
Of course, the movies already made the Cosmic Cube (aka the Tesseract) into an Infinity Stone. In the comics the Cosmic Cubes were actually nascent godlike beings created by other godlike beings. Cosmic Cubes are way more powerful than a single Infinity Gem and are arguably on par with the complete Infinity Gauntlet. The tradeoff is that Cosmic Cubes are harder to wield properly than the Infinity Gauntlet.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI finally saw Black Widow. Honestly, not bad at all. Not my new favorite movie, but the MCU has had much worse. I do feel like Taskmaster was kind of underutilized, essentially being just a weapon for the Big Bad rather than their own character and their ability to mimic largely just manifested as "good fighter who uses a shield and bow", but hopefully they'll be improved in a future movie now that they're free. And maybe get a better costume, because this one looks pretty boring to me.
As I was driving home from the theater, I literally thought in my head that Black Widow is Natasha's Winter Soldier.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"We got an official art piece
of the MCU version of Kamala Khan!
Yeah, the boots are gone (
) and there's a purple energy thing going on.
Still looks really great.

I don't, but I still don't want them to deny her inhuman heritage. They broke them, and now they're tossing them under the bus. No. Fix them.
And jokes about how much they suck....don't help either.
One Strip! One Strip!

I have my fears about May’s odds of survival here based on the game in that case.
The legend has returned.
