Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Multiple times, you have come into this thread to post about Black Widow's sales figures not being amazing, and that it is surefire evidence that the MCU is doomed. And every time, you have ignored people saying that Black Widow's sales figures are because of the pandemic, not the MCU losing steam.
If you're not a troll, you seem to be an MCU hater salivating at the thought of it going under.
I'm...not any of that.
I agree. ~Mario1995, this constant barrage of negativity from you is unhelpful and distracting. It serves no purpose other than to drag down the conversation. If you continue to do it, you will be thumped. If you do it after that, you will be banned from this forum.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"...My bad.

Well, WB marketing was known for being poor enough that it contributed to a lot of their movies in the last several years underperforming.
Really? I thought WB's marketing was one of their strongest suits, I've always been impressed by their trailers. It's the fact that all of the early DCCU movies were garbage that made their later movies underperform. If anything, their trailers are too good, I was apprehensive about Wonder Woman and Aquaman because their trailers looked just as great as the ones that were for Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad, and so I felt like I couldn't trust them as an accurate representation of quality.

Yeah, I've always felt that WB's marketing of the DCCU has been fairly strong. It's just that the films sucked (with a few exceptions).
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Anywho, regarding the new Shang-Chi poster. It seems weird that they went with a blue backdrop, because it doesn't blend at all with the movie logo.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherThe big thing as well with DCEU marketing is that it's diverse. WB really lets creatives have full control of the entire thing and that clearly includes the marketing. In contrast MCU marketing is significantly more consistent, which is valid in its own way (see: the tepid response to the first Eternals trailer) but that means they usually have the same pros and cons.
Back to Scar Jo-
My guess all this back and forth is just chest pounding, its insanely easy to prove what was in the original contract which promised a theater release (contract was signed in 2017 IIRC) and also easy to prove or disprove an addendum to that contract to allow a streaming release. The fact there may be several legal actions already in progress against WB for the EXACT SAME CRAP should have tipped somebody in Disney Legal that this wasn't a hot idea.
The fact that ONLY Scar Jo's camp is saying outright there was no addendum while Disney is implying she was 'fully compensated' when a simple "We signed an addendum for the hybrid release on (insert date) and she was paid (insert amount/percentage)" would have tanked her suit SO FAST. Disney being coy is either Scar Jo being 100% right with no addendum, or she's smelling some Hollywood Accounting at work with the D+ numbers.
My point still stands they want her to back down, but chances are high she won't and they will eventually find a number to pay her off with to keep ALLLLL the Marvel Talent happy

My guess? Media conglomerates literally see their "battle" with Netflix and Amazon as a life-or-death scenario, and if talent and creatives have to take a back seat, so be it.
Of course, this has never been the case at all.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherWell, that's interesting plot point they revealed there, though still without really getting into what it means. They drop that when Shang was a kid, his father was evil enough for Shang to want to leave but not necessarily as bad as he could have been, but that in the intervening years since they've seen each other he's gotten worse and is now fully reprehensible. I wonder if that means that Shang is going to try to redeem Wenwu or something.
