Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Most likely for the same reasons they just won’t out and out recast T’Challa. The identity is too intertwined with the actor, and it is their belief that a new T’Challa, with or without an In-Universe explanation, is offensive to the memory of Boseman. I’m not going to say if that’s right or wrong (there’s a lot of moving gears to put it mildly) but that seems to be their approach.

> The end of Loki means they can technically replace T'Challa with a variant from another parallel reality played by a different actor.
that would upset a lot of people who've not seen Loki and probably lead to accusions of being an gigantic Ass Pull
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI hope we don't start borrowing replacement characters from other timelines. That is hugely problematic for any story because it undermines the stakes completely. "Don't get attached to this character; we might kill them off and bring in a clone."
Since Boseman died, I've been kind of hoping we'd see Shuri take up the suit and claws.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Nah, that's what I've been hoping for since a lot can happen in five years' time, plus Thanos getting rid of the Stones made it seem like the deaths were going to stick at least from what the characters figured, but Marvel has been extremely tight-lipped about when BP2 takes place.

During the five year snap would be a decent period. Wakanda would be in chaos, half of their people including their king gone. Anyone with a bone to pick or grabby hands could hardly find a better time
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPlus, Entertainment Weekly has our first morsel of images
from Hawkeye! Including our first look at Kate Bishop!
EDIT:
Okay, I admit, that made me laugh.

Yeah, the end of the year is looking pretty crowded on Disney+, so I'm not surprised if Ms. Marvel ends up having to wait until after the new year.
And if it gives them a bit more time to get the VFX's right, then it will be worth it. I can't imagine Kamala's powers are going to be easy to get right.

I really hope they lean into the New Jersey setting in Ms. Marvel like they've done with San Francisco in Ant-Man. Since I used to live there, there's a lot of really cool things to do/see there, and the people there are super nice. WandaVision already leaned into the "supernatural New Jersey" thing, which I really liked, so I have faith.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Honestly, no matter what choice they made, they were probably going to meet a lot of resistance.
Boseman's death caught them flat footed and I'd argue there's no right answer.
Maybe if they'd known before hand and had a chance to plan things out with his input, but....
One Strip! One Strip!RE: Ghost Rider and Secret Warriors shows possibly coming to Disney+:
Well, if there was anything that would determine where AOS is canon-wise, it's going to be in those shows. But then, I say this overconfidently since the Darkhold already showed up in WandaVision looking absolutely nothing like it did in AOS, so what would I know?
And...yeah, I'd be lying if I said Norman Reedus wasn't my first pick for Johnny Blaze. (Can't really say anything about Daniel Ketch since I'm not as familiar with him. Blame the Nic Cage movie.)

Hm, Kate will be 22.
I'm glad they aren't Dawson Casting her. Steinfield is the same age as Kathryn Newton, so... Young Adult Avengers?
Odd, but considering that the regular Avengers ranges from their thirties to their ninties, she’d still be young, albeit relatively. Though, this kinda throws a wrench at my theory that Kate is a Composite Character with Lila Barton.

SKREEEEEEEONK!Regarding the Black Panther set leaks: thinking on it more it would still be as fitting if it's before Endgame as it would be afterwards, and I'm kinda surprised I haven't seen it suggested more elsewhere. The spoiler subreddit in particular is super convinced the set leaks confirm it being set post-Endgame.
Regarding Ghost Rider: honestly think Norman Reedus would be a solid pick for Johnny Blaze. I highly doubt Marvel would try something as wacky as trying to have Nicolas Cage reprise, lol. I've also generally really loved Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes, but I've only just learned the guy's pushing 40 and I probably wouldn't mind recasting younger especially given how good the MCU's been at dodging Dawson Casting. As for Danny Ketch...do we honestly still need to do Ketch? Marvel's already let Blaze swallow a lot of Ketch's thunder because of how much people associate the Rider as Blaze, could honestly see the Composite Character route being pushed through.
Regarding
: Several of the actors pulled in for potential Young Avengers recruits are noticeably younger - the actors for Billy and Tommy are literally prepubescent. Kinda unsure what the idea's gonna be, if they are pulling ages more closer or gonna let the group cover this range.

The end of Loki means they can technically replace T'Challa with a variant from another parallel reality played by a different actor.
