Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Captain America grabbed Stormbreaker in endgame
Lucky that he didn’t try to use it
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo, I was looking on Robert Downey Jr's tropes page, and it mentioned that he apparently nixed the idea of Iron Man 2 doing an arc of Tony dealing with alcoholism (I'm assuming as a more straight adaptation of the Demon in a Bottle storyline). Apparently, he didn't want to revisit the same mindset of addiction he'd already struggled with for a whole chunk of his career. Does anyone have a source on this?
It's like they get to use all the drama that comes from him being a convict without actually giving him a serious flaw.
Scott does have a flaw when it comes to making impulsive and poorly thought out decisions. Remember the reason he got caught was because he drove his boss's car into a pool out of spite.
I just now thought, hopefully Hawkeye has an excellent action-choreographer.
I feel for that show, Clint especially the fight scenes are gonna be very important to help sell the Hawkeye's skills as way cool, especially the archery.
So hopefully it has some cool dynamic martial arts shit.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The only reason we even debated about whether or not Agents of Shield is canon is because the series ends up becoming incompatible with the main timeline. The moment you introduce the multiverse, such problems can be chalked up as a divergence in the timeline.

What is the Doylist problem? Marvel Television has been subsumed into Marvel Studios, the old shows are cancelled, the new shows are explicitly MCU canon, and the multiverse angle (and the way it's been established) provides an out from wholly pulling said old shows into the prime canon.
Canonicity is chiefly a Watsonian issue of making sure everything logically flows together. The Doylist issue is just making sure the corporate ship is actually sailing the right course.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they avoided Scott just to not acknowledge that one meme about how Ant man could defeat Thanos.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.
