Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Rarely post here, but the ongoing conversation made me realize that Scott seems to be the Peter Parker to Hank Pym’s Tony Stark, what with inheriting his tech and apparently his villains, too. Heck, he even goes out of his way to try and help in Endgame the same way Peter did in Infinity War. Anyway, carry on.
I remember when Linkara uploaded one his old Secret Origin videos on Youtube, he talked about the Ant-Man movie a little bit in the video description, and mused how the film might've been better if Janet was the one mentoring Scott while Hank was the one who was trapped in the Quantum Realm.
It might've lost some of Legacy Character angle they were going for, but it would've given the film more female representation at least.
I do think that part of it is kind of the charm of Scott's character in his MCU incarnation. He's just a nice guy who wants to help people and be a good dad, so he doesn't even have proper enemies himself as much as he tries to help other people with their own enemies. He's like a more everyman counterpart of Superman at times, almost. So it's easy for the villains to be "somebody's else demons" rather than his own.
Granted, it also doesn't help Scott Lang (and Ant-Man in general) has a pretty shit rogues gallery and no one that particularly stands out as a personal foe. I thought Earth's Mightiest Heroes had a clever bit with Scott briefly having a personal arch-foe in William Cross/Crossfire (cousin to Darren Cross) who was like his dark liason from his criminal past acting as a loan shark to force him into crime. Cross even had a pretty sweet design
in that
. I think the comics cribbed some of that eventually but overall no one really followed suit.
Scott has the low bar honor of also being easily the best dad in the MCU
Forever liveblogging the Avengers“No good illegal deed goes unpunished”
Which, hey, happens in both of his movies!
Forever liveblogging the AvengersFunny to have Kang show up and act jovial to all the heroes and then go >=[ “Lang.”

x7 Well it’s pretty realistic actually.
Scott’s done his time and has since gone straight but his record will always haunt him no matter what. Tough life of a convict especially the part where finding a job is incredibly hard.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I do admit, it would be funny if Kang did actually become Scott's Nemesis, and from that point on, Scott pulls everyone else into his business instead of the other way around.
And whenever they ask why they have to get involved in his shit, he should rightfully point out that they did it to him again and again, and now they owe him.
Like, it might be a bit sad to see such a nice guy pissed off, but it'd certainly show a different side of him.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I did notice that we had our eyes off Scott for quite a while...
Every moment you didn’t see Scott, he was shrunk so he could find the perfect time and angle to go up Thanos’s... Mad Titan. Unfortunately, Tony killed him before he could find the perfect moment. All that practice for nothing.

His original arrest was for stealing from a corpo for screwing over the little guy.
