Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It'd be cool if the new Blade movie was rated-R like the original trilogy, but I'm doubtful that the MCU will stray from a PG-13 route after the end of the Netflix shows.
I know there's still talk about the next Deadpool movie maintaining it's R-rating, so it's not entirely out of the question. I just hope we can have something matching the blood rave sequence from the first film.
It was one of the festival-circuit films that debuted to a demure release mid-pandemic. Probably a better sense when it comes out in the US in September.
Googling it, Riz Ahmed is always one to watch, and two of the actresses play off each other in the very delightful We Are Lady Parts.

About Muslim vampires: he's not a vampire but Isaac is a Muslim that agrees with what Dracula is doing to the point that he's one of his main lackeys.
The legend has returned.Comics have a very interesting thing with religious symbols and vampires, and that's that they all work. Depending on the user's religion and vampire's (usually) former religion.
For example, David's Star is only effective in the hands of a religious Jew (and it's strength depends on the strength of user's faith), and, while it will slightly weaken all vampires, it's really going to hurt a vampire who used to be a religious Jew himself. Wonder if they'll adapt that.
It's kind of odd since that implies it's not an actual supernatural effect of the deity involved, but the power of belief itself.
There was a movie some years back, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, about a town in Iran being stalked by a vampire. I haven't seen it, though.
By now, it should be clear to all except the most dense of us that sheep are secretly conspiring to kill us all and steal our pants.I actually checked Religious Vampire.
And most of the examples were catholic or Jewish.
Islamic vampires don't seen to be quiet common.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The comics version of Dracula has been portrayed as a particularly virulent Islamaphobe on occasion, as he is supposedly the same Vlad Tepes who fought the Ottoman Empire.
But I don't think Big Drac himself is due to appear in the new Blade.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Vampires are interesting as a concept because practically every culture on the planet has independently made their own unique versions of the idea. I'd be dope if Blde actually delved into that some.
You could definitely have, say, a Muslim vampire from Eurasia based on Persian stories or the origins of Lilith, or even from India based on the monster in "King Vikram and the Vampire."

So, the Loki series (and the upcoming What If show) have me thinking a lot about the potential for alternate worlds.
We could see a world where Ego ultimately did decide to abandon his assimilation plan and stay with Meredith. Maybe we'll get a world where Titan was never destroyed, or a world where Strange decided to wait until he wasn't on the road driving at super fast speeds to check his phone.
Hell, maybe we'll get a world where Hela was successfully convinced not to be a tyrant by Odin.
Sky's the damn limit on this.
One Strip! One Strip!

@Synchronicity: Islamic cultures and Vampires intersect a fair bit in the lore of Vampire: The Masquerade (and affiliated franchises), but that's indeed the only one I can think of.
It'd be a fascinating angle, I agree. I have my doubts if Marvel/Disney has the cojones to go for it, but as just mentioned, they are doing a at least nominally a Muslim heroine very soon and this project does seem to be relatively "auteur" (renowned actor Mahersha Ali and two people known for extremely socially engaged works as director and screenwriter) so there's higher odds than usual.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
