Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Shame hes dead. We are not gonna get an answer to that for a while.
Holy fuck I just now realized Endgame Hawkeye is essentially post-Ultimates 2 Hawkeye where like Endgame he lost his family and suffered from immense PTSD over it.
Though Endgame Hawkeye was just a brooding anti-hero, Ultimates 3 Hawkeye was an angry psychopath constantly picking fights with an itchy trigger finger.

How did that compare to everyone else? The numbers are so screwy these days I need more context. It probably does have the advantage of the biggest new release getting utterly scathing reviews and being on HBO Max.
That movie is on track for a $32 million opening
.
BW looks to snag $25.6M on week 2, a 68% drop. That could conceivably lead to Disney taking more control over the MCU and lessen what Feige can do.

With 4,000+ theaters open I'm not sure if the pandemic matters in these numbers.
It 100% does. "Theaters are open" doesn't automatically equate to "everyone in the audience willing to go back when a big chunk of the population still isn't vaccinated and there's an alternate digital option".
It's one thing to observe that it's a big drop, it's another thing to immediately start pivoting to "Disney's going to start taking more control away from Marvel Studios".

Didn't WW 84 see a similar drop? Basically, all the vaccinated nerds who want to see it ASAP come out the first week, then the next week you're left with the theater-hesitant remaining population. Not surprising, also doesn't mean "theaters are dead". Please stop pushing this narrative with no concrete basis.

Tbf WW 84 had uh not good word of mouth from what I've heard....
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."With the advent of a rising Delta COVID-19 plus the fact a show like Loki was playing in Disney+ at the same time (with a lot more excitement of what is to come), I don't see what is there to panic about box office dollars given the status of theaters.
It'll take a long time for the theaters to recover back to their original levels. Schools are still using Zoom Meetings and I've heard (at least here in California) that schools ain't gonna have in-class sessions until next year. So movie theaters are not gonna see big time attendance in a while (unless the blockbuster is so big, it must be seen on the big screen).

Still, going around on his own murdering criminals is a lot more aggressive than his normal behavior. And it doesn't help that the Yakuza has a Noble Demon reputation, and we aren't really shown that the people he's killing are exceptionally evil.

I am very curious what gave Pietro his powers.
