Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Sold! Thanks.
My only wishlist item for this movie was for them to not kill Taskmaster, entirely regardless of plot.

I don't think we have a Black Widow thread, or at least I wasn't able to find it by "Ctrl-F"-ing "Widow" on the first 3 pages of this forum.
Black Widow spoilers
I saw it this morning and I had a good time. I really like the relationships between Natasha's "family" a lot. My only real complaint is that the last twenty minutes almost felt like a video game movie adaption. It stretched my suspension of disbelief a bit with how many near misses Natasha had that could have instantly killed her in that sequence.
Anyone else remember this Marvel Superheroes Got Milk
commercial? A lot of the comments talk about recreating it with the MCU cast. XD
What If
trailer, show comes out August 11.
Definitely some kind of overarching storyline, we have evil Strange talking with Captain Britain.

x2: To think that is probably our earliest depictions of a comic-book loyal take on Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye's costumes before the MCU.
Also, I think the lighting sort of fits in mimicking Alex Ross' illustrations.

Also, have a new poster
with further looks into the different takes of familiar characters.
Including Gamora in Thanos-inspired armor, Spider-Man: Sorcerer Supreme, zombie Hawkeye and more.

Oooooh looks like things are changing up.
https://www.ign.com/articles/kevin-feige-says-marvel-done-with-massive-multi-movie-deals
According to Feige they seem to be done with multi-movie contracts like Jackson's 9-movie contract to play Fury.
"It varies, project to project, cast to cast," Feige explained, reflecting on the sweeping talent deals previously inked by the likes of Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson. "Really, what we want are people that come in, are excited to be in the universe, are excited at the opportunity to do more things, as opposed to being locked into contractual obligations."
Regarding Black Widow
While I appreciate the the post-fortnight lead-in to Infinity War at the end with Natasha now blonde and equipped with a quin-jet, they left out the details in between this scene and the last as to how that came to be, which leads me to suspect this is a clever means of setting up a sequel set during the Infinity saga for Natasha in case Scarlet wants to return

BW takes in $13.2 million

This could be a big one folks.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherJust saw it. Really liked it!
I know people are going to be bitchy about Taskmaster, but I didn't really mind. She was certainly badass enough, and, as Known Unknown pointed out, she didn't die and that's all that matters. As long as she lives, she can grow into her comic-personality. Hell, we already have one tortured, formerly brainwashed assassin in Bucky. She could make a nice foil to him, instead of trying to atone for her actions she wholeheartedly embraces being a master murderer, it being the only thing she's known since she was... what, 10? 12?
Of course, then there's the people who are bitchy solely because she's a woman, but we can keep ignoring them.
Otherwise, yeah. Yelena was fun, and I'd be down for her taking up the mantle.
1. I've yet to see any criticism of this stemming from Taskmaster being a woman. Women can be as snarky as the character was from the comics.
2. That's the point. She's another Bucky. Why do we need another one?
3. You can get what they were going for and still not like what they did. Heck, I liked the Mandarin twist, not the execution of it, but the idea of it. It was more clever than what they did here.
